Wednesday, September 14th, 2011 11:30 a.m. MOTOR VEHICLE COLLISIONS- ARREST C11-193912 On September 13th, 2011, just before 9:30 a.m. Winnipeg Police Service Division 16 Uniform Members, along with emergency services personnel, were dispatched to the intersection of Waverly Street and Bishop Grandin Boulevard for a report of a number of motor vehicle collisions. Upon arrival, officers located seven vehicles in and around the intersection that had sustained damage. Two drivers from these vehicles, a 50 year old female and a 77 year old male, were transported to hospital in stable condition for minor injuries that were sustained during the collisions. Three of the seven vehicles were towed from the scene, while the remaining vehicles sustained only minor damage. The investigation has revealed that a lone male was operating a Mazda 6 automobile travelling southbound on Waverly Street approaching Bishop Grandin Boulevard when the vehicle crossed the median and all lanes of traffic. The Mazda 6 stuck a Dodge Dakota truck and continued to cross Waverly Street a number of times subsequently colliding with five other vehicles which were within the intersection. As a result of the continued investigation by Division 16 Uniform Members, a 58 year old male from Winnipeg will be facing charges of impaired driving and drive over .08. He has been released to attend court at a later date.
