Winnipeg Police Service News Release:

 

  Sunday, September 11, 2011 

DRUG WARRANT – ARRESTS C11-191339
On September 8th, 2011, members of the Winnipeg Police Service Street Crimes Unit became involved in a drug investigation.
 
Investigators, with the assistance of the Tactical Support Team, executed a Controlled Drug and Substance Act Search Warrant on September 9th, at approximately 11:40 p.m. at a suite located in the 200 block of McLeod Avenue
 
A search of the apartment yielded the following:
 
·        A large sum of Canadian Currency
·        5 ½ ounces of cocaine – estimated street value of $8,250.00
·        525 x ¼ gram rocks of crack cocaine – estimated street value of $10,500.00
·        15 grams of Cannabis Marihuana – valued at $150.00
·        A quantity of unknown white pills
·        Cellular phones
·        Bear Spray
·        Miscellaneous drug paraphernalia
 
A 26 year old male and 27 year old male have been arrested and charged with several drug related offences.
 
They were detained at the Provincial Remand Centre.
 
 
STABBING C11-192328
On September 11, 2011 at approximately 1:55 a.m., emergency personnel responded to the 300 block of Kennedy Street regarding a stabbing incident.
 
Attending members located an injured male suffering from a serious upper body injury, including a lower body injury. He was conveyed to hospital in critical condition where he remains in critical but stable condition.
 
No arrest(s) have been made at this time.
 
The investigation is continuing by members of the Major Crimes Unit. The identity of the victim has not yet been confirmed.

COMMERCIAL ROBBERY C11-192470
On September 11, 2011 at approximately 5:00 a.m., members of the Winnipeg Police Service, while patrolling in the area of the 500 block of William Avenue were flagged down by a convenience store employee. 
 
Officers learned that a robbery had just taken place. The investigation has revealed that a lone male suspect entered the business while covering his face, and confronted a store employee. The suspect demanded cigarettes and threatened to harm the employee. The suspect eventually fled with an undisclosed amount of cigarettes.
 
No one was injured as a result of the incident.
 
The suspect is described as: male, aboriginal in appearance, 25-30 years of age, 6'00" tall, heavy build and clean shaven.
