MALE WANTED C11-106233
The Winnipeg Police Service is requesting the public's assistance in locating 28 year old Victor Cory HARDISTY.
 
HARDISTYis currently wanted by police as a result of two outstanding warrants regarding: Robbery, Assault and Break and Enter.
 
HARDISTY is described as: Male, Aboriginal, 28 years of age, 5'11" in height, 230 lbs., heavy build, black hair and brown eyes.
 
 
 
Members of the District 6 Crime Unit have been actively searching for HARDISTY, but have been unable to locate him.
 
Anyone with information regarding his whereabouts is asked to contact investigators directly at 986-2877 or CrimeStoppers at 786-TIPS (8477).
  
 
VEHICLE ROBBERY C11-111125
On May 31, 2011 at approximately 2:30 a.m., Uniform members responded to the 700 block of Notre Dame Avenue regarding a vehicle robbery incident.
 
The investigation has revealed that a 19 year old male victim was confronted by two male suspects armed with knives. The suspects demanded the victim's car keys, which were provided. The suspects entered the victim's vehicle and were last seen driving northbound on Toronto Street.
 
The victim was not injured as a result of the incident.
 
The stolen vehicle, a red Toyota Camery was located abandoned after colliding with a tree in the area of Kate Street and Elgin Avenue.
 
The suspects are described as:
 
Suspect 1 – Male, 19-20 years of age, 5'8"- 5'9" in height, skinny build, wearing dark clothing and a tattoo on the inside of his left forearm.
 
Suspect 2 – Male, 19-20 years of age, 5'8" in height, chubby build and wearing dark clothing.
 
The investigation is continuing by members of the Division 11 Crime Unit. Anyone with information regarding the incident or identity of the suspects is requested to contact investigators at 986-6668 or CrimeStoppers at 786-TIPS (8477).
     
 
COMMERCIAL ROBBERY C11-110926
On May 30th, 2011 at approximately 8:50 p.m., members of the Winnipeg Police Service responded to a business in the 500 block of Pembina Highway regarding a commercial robbery.
 
Attending members learned that a 20 year old female employee was confronted by a male suspect who attended behind the counter and stole an undisclosed amount of cash. No weapons were observed and the victim was uninjured.
 
 
The suspect is described as: Male, Caucasian, 5'5" in height, short blonde hair, 18 - 20 years of age with a skinny build.
 
The investigation is continuing by members of the Major Crimes Unit. Anyone with information regarding the incident is asked to contact investigators at 986-6219 or CrimeStoppers at 786-TIPS (8477).

Monday, May 30th, 2011
 
HOMICIDE INVESTIGATION - CANADA-WIDE WARRANT C11-103363
As previously released, on May 21st, 2011 at approximately 11:35 a.m., emergency personnel were dispatched to a downtown hotel located in the 200 block of Smith Street regarding a sudden death.
 
Members of the Winnipeg Police Service were notified by hotel staff indicating that an adult male with trauma injuries to this upper body, had been located deceased within a suite. The victim has been identified as: Leslie Alex OKEMOW, 29 years of Gods Lake Narrow, Manitoba
 
Members of the Homicide Unit are continuing with the investigation.
 
A Canada-Wide Warrant has been issued for the arrest of 32 year old Arnold Philip HARPER.    
 
 
 
HARPERis described as: Male, Aboriginal, 5'10" in height, 217 lbs., large build, black hair and brown eyes.
 
Anyone with information regarding HARPER's whereabouts is requested to contact police at 986-6222, Investigators at 986-6508 or CrimeStoppers at 786-TIPS (8477).
 
 
MISSING PERSONS – EDWARD "EDDY" LUND C11-110225
The Winnipeg Police Service is requesting the public's assistance in locating a 15 year old male, Eddy LUND.
 
LUND was last seen on May 29th, 2011 at 10:00 p.m.
 
As a result of the investigation, members of the Missing Person's Unit are concerned for LUND's well-being.
 
LUND is described as: Aboriginal, 5'3" in height, 120 lbs., short black hair and brown eyes. LUND was last seen wearing a black t-shirt and denim jeans. It is also believed that his currently not wearing his eye glasses.
 
 
 
Anyone with information regarding LUND's whereabouts is asked to contact the Winnipeg Police Service 986-6222 or the Missing Persons Unit at 986-6250.

MISSING PERSON – Mildred FLETT (aka NELSON) - UPDATE R10-55243
The Winnipeg Police Service continues to request the public's assistance in locating 51 year old missing female, Mildred FLETT, also known as Mildred NELSON. She was last heard from at the beginning of June, 2010. It has now been a year since FLETT last had any contact with family or friends.              
 
She is described as: Aboriginal, 5'10" in height, weighing approximately 140 pounds, medium wavy black hair, with brown eyes. Information received suggests that FLETT may have cut her hair short.
 
 
Anyone with information regarding FLETT's whereabouts, or who spent time with FLETT before her disappearance and has not yet spoken with Police, or who may have seen or spoken with FLETT during the past year is asked to contact the Winnipeg Police Service Missing Persons Unit at 986-6250.
 
 
SEXUAL ASSAULT C11-109876
On May 29th, 2011, at approximately 1:00 p.m., members of the Winnipeg Police Service received a report of a sexual assault that had occurred earlier in the day in the area of Portage Avenue and Donald Street.
 
At approximately 11:00 a.m., an 18 year old female was waiting for transportation in the area when she was approached by an unknown male. The male proceeded to ask the female if she was okay, to which she indicated that she was, ending any further conversation.
 
A short time later, the female was confronted by the same male again when he acknowledged a piece of jewellery she was wearing and attempted to touch it. The female subsequently pushed the male away and proceeded to leave the area southbound on Donald Street. The female was then confronted from behind by the male suspect and forced into a back lane and pushed to the ground. While on the ground, the female victim was groped to her upper and lower body by the male suspect. The female victim was eventually able to push the male suspect off at which time he fled in an eastbound direction.
 
The female was not injured as a result of the incident.
 
The suspect is described as: Male, Black, 5'6" in height, 150-160 lbs., unshaven, wearing dark clothing and observed to have a slight accent. 
 
The investigation is continuing by members of the Sex Crimes Unit. Anyone with information regarding the incident is asked to contact investigators at 986-6245 or CrimeStoppers at 786-TIPS (8477).
 
 
COMMERCIAL ROBBERY C11-110230
On May 29th, 2011 at approximately 10:10 p.m., Uniform members responded to a commercial robbery at a business in the 800 block of Waverley Street.
 
The investigation has revealed that two male suspects entered the business and initially placed an order with the 19 year old male employee. A short time later, one of the suspects produced a handgun and pointed it in the direction of the employee. Money was demanded and an undisclosed amount was obtained. While still being threatened with the handgun, the store employee was forced to the rear of the business at which time his car keys were stolen.
 
The suspects fled the area in the store employee's vehicle.
 
The stolen vehicle is described as: 2006 Chevrolet Cobalt SS, orange in colour with a black spoiler.
 
Both suspects are described as: Male, Caucasian, between 5'9"-5'10" in height, slim build, mid 20's, one with short dark hair and the other with lighter short hair.
 
The investigation is continuing by members of the Major Crimes Unit. Anyone with information regarding the incident, or the location of the stolen vehicle is asked to contact investigators at 986-6219 or CrimeStoppers at 786-TIPS (8477).

Winnipeg Police Service News Release:

 

  Sunday, May 29th, 2011 

 
HOMICIDE INVESTIGATION – UPDATE - ARRESTS C11-94547
As previously released, on May, 10, 2011 at approximately 9:20 p.m., members of the Winnipeg Police Service were dispatched to a residence in the 200 block of Austin Street North after receiving a 911 call.
 
Attending members located 46 year old Solomon Joseph Andrew TURNER deceased within the home. An autopsy has been completed and the cause of death has been attributed to multiple stab wounds to the lower body.
 
The investigation has revealed that the victim became involved in a verbal argument with a male and female suspect. The argument escalated into a physical altercation at which time the suspects produced weapons and a proceeded to stab and assault the victim multiple times about the body. The suspects subsequently fled the residence.
 
Due to the efforts of members of the Homicide Unit, the following individuals have been arrested:
 
On May 11, 2011, Lloyd Alfred LINDSAY, 48 years was arrested and charged with 2nd Degree Murder as a result of his alleged involvement.
 
On May 27, 2011, Wanda Lisa RAHMAN (Bruce), 32 years was arrested and charged with 2nd Degree Murder as a result of her alleged involvement.    
 
Both have been detained.

MOTOR VEHICLE COLLISION INVOLVING PEDESTRIAN C11-108276
On May 27th, 2011, emergency personnel were dispatched to the area of Portage Avenue and Lipton Street regarding a serious motor vehicle collision involving a pedestrian and City of Winnipeg Transit Bus.
 
The investigation has revealed that at approximately 5:00 p.m., a 25 year old female pedestrian was crossing Portage Avenue northbound between intersections when she was struck by a westbound Transit Bus travelling in the diamond lane.
 
The pedestrian was conveyed to hospital initially in stable condition, but has since been downgraded to critical condition due to significant upper body injuries.
 
The investigation is continuing by members of the Central Traffic Unit.

MANITOBA MOTORCYCLE RIDE FOR DAD
The 2011 Ride for Dad will take place on Saturday, May 28, 2011 starting at Polo Park. This year's goal is to bring awareness to the fight against prostate cancer by increasing registered riders, adding to last year's successful fundraising total.
 
Where: Polo Park Shopping Centre (south parking lot)
 
When: 10:00 a.m.
 
Description: The event will begin with an official parade westbound on Portage Avenue to the Perimeter Highway and the Red River Exhibition Park. As a result, minor traffic interruptions may occur during the parade.  
 
The Winnipeg Police Service would like to remind motorists to reduce their speeds and drive cautiously while in the area of the parade.

37th ANNUAL SCHOOL PATROL SAFETY AWARDS
The Winnipeg Police Service hosted the 37th Annual School Safety Patrol Awards this morning at the Convention Centre.
 
Since 1936, the Winnipeg Police Service has been involved in the School Safety Patrol Program.  May 5th, 2011 started the year-long celebration of the 75th Anniversary of the program here in Winnipeg, Manitoba. Winnipeg is proud to have the first fully organized and officially recognized school patrol program in Canada.
 
Every year the patrols are judged on their ability, professionalism and technique while on patrol by the School Education Section of the Winnipeg Police Service.
 
In 2011, there were over 6,500 patrols in Winnipeg, ensuring our children arrive safely to their respective schools everyday.
 
The top four city-wide school patrol teams are as follows:
 
1st Place         Ecole Lacerte – Division Scolaire Franco-Manitobaine
                        CAA Manitoba Trophy
 
2nd Place        Brock-Corydon School - Winnipeg School Division – South District
                        Winnipeg Free Press Trophy
 
3rd Place         Ecole Van Belleghem – Louis Riel School Division
                        Joint Veterans Association
 
4th Place         Royal School – Pembina Trails School Division
                        Winnipeg Police Service Trophy
 
The Most Improved School Patrol Team is:
 
Isaac Brock School – Winnipeg School Division – Central District
CAA Manitoba Trophy.
 
Louise Staples, a teacher at Greenway School, was instrumental in starting up the program in Winnipeg.  Every year the most efficient Patrol Captain receives an award in Louise Staples' name.
  
The Winnipeg Police Service is pleased to announce that the recipient of the 2011 Louise Staples Award is Sanveer Saggi of John de Graff School – River East Transcona School Division.

FRAUD AND THEFT INVESTIGATION - ARREST R11-1822
In January 2011, members of the Winnipeg Police Service District 2 Crime Unit became involved in a lengthy fraud related investigation.
 
It has since been revealed that a registered Travel Agency located in the City of Winnipeg defrauded upwards of 17 victims throughout Canada and the United States between September 2010 and April 2011 totalling over $163,000.00.
 
On May 26th, 2011 Devol James DRYDEN, 39 years of Winnipeg was arrested and charged with the following offences: Fraud Under $5000.00 x 4, Theft Under $5000.00 x 2, Fraud Over $5000.00 x 6, Possess – Use Credit Card Data x 4 and Theft Over $5000.00.
 
DRYDEN has been detained at the Provincial Remand Centre.
 
 
GROW OPERATION – ARREST R11-45433
On May 26th, 2011 at approximately 7:00 p.m., members of the Winnipeg Police Service Drug Unit with the assistance of the Vice Unit and Tactical Support Team executed a Controlled Drug and Substance Act Search Warrant at a residence in the Eaglemere area of the City.
 
 
      

 
 
 
 
               Due to the efforts of all Officers involved, the following was located and seized:
 
  • 707 Cannabis Marihuana Plants – estimated street value of over $791,000.00
  • Grow Operation Equipment – estimated street value of $16,000.00
 
A 49 year old male was located within the residence and subsequently arrested. He is facing the following charges: Production of Cannabis Marihuana, Possess for the Purpose of Trafficking Cannabis Marihuana and Theft of Telecommunications.
 
He was released on a promise to Appear.

Winnipeg Police Service News Release

MISSING PERSON– DAVID DICKIE          C11-106777
The Winnipeg Police Service is requesting the public's assistance in locating a missing 31 year old male, David DICKIE.  DICKIE was last seen on Wednesday, May 25th, 2011 and may be operating a purple GMC Safari van. 
 
 
DICKIE is described as Caucasian, 6'0" tall, weighing approximately 140 pounds, with brown hair and blue eyes.  
 
Investigators are concerned for DICKIE'S well being.  Anyone with information regarding DICKIE'S whereabouts if asked to contact the Winnipeg Police Service at 986-6222 or the Missing Persons Unit at 986-6250.
