Winnipeg Police Service News Release:

Friday, September 9th, 2011    SERIOUS MOTOR VEHICLE COLLISION - UPDATE C11-190686 On September 9th, 2011 at approximately 7:35 a.m., emergency services responded to a serious motor vehicle collision involving two vehicles in the area of the 2000 block of Portage Avenue.   Initially, it was believed that a pedestrian had been struck. The investigation has since revealed that a Chrysler Intrepid was travelling westbound on Portage Avenue and collided with a Honda Civic attempting to turn eastbound onto Portage Avenue from Winchester Street. As a result of the collision, a 72 year old female driver was thrown from the Honda Civic, causing serious upper body injuries.
