Winnipeg Police Service News Release

COMMERICAL ROBBERY- ARRESTS  C11-200260
At approximately 11:30 p.m., on September 21st, 2011, two male suspects attended to a hotel within the 1700 block of Sargent Avenue where the locked front door was forced open.  Once inside the suspects confronted the 50 year old female desk clerk and demanded money.  An undisclosed amount of money was obtained. 
 
Both suspects fled and police were notified. Patrolling Division 12 Uniform Members quickly searched the area and located both suspects near the intersection of Ellice Avenue and Berry Street.
 
During processing, two police officers were assaulted about the upper body by a 37 year old male suspect.   Medical attention was not required by either officer. 
 
Michael James KIPLING, 37 years of Winnipeg has been charged with the following offences for his alleged involvement in this incident:
 
- Robbery
- Break and enter with intent
- Assault peace officer x 2, and
- Breach of probation
 
Patrick Carl SCOTT, 24 years of Winnipeg is facing charges of robbery and break and enter with intent for his alleged involvement in this incident. 
 
Both males have been detained at the Winnipeg Remand Centre. 
 
COMMERICAL ROBBERY- ARREST               C11-200340
On September 22nd, 2011 shortly before 4:00 a.m. Winnipeg Police Service units responded to a convenience store within the 600 block of Watt Street for a report of a commercial robbery. 
 
Upon arrival officers learned that a lone male suspect had entered the business and confronted the two clerks with a knife.   The suspect then demanded money, cigarettes and lottery tickets.  After obtaining a small amount of cash and merchandise the suspect fled the scene on a bicycle.
 
A patrolling Canine Unit, along with the assistance of East District Uniform Members, located the suspect in the vicinity of Watt Street and Winterton Avenue.  
 
As a result of the continued investigation by Major Crimes Unit investigators, Michael Maurice MENTUCK, 20 years of Winnipeg has been charged with robbery with weapon for his alleged involvement in this incident.  He has been remanded into custody. 
 
 
HOMICIDE INVESTIGATION- UPDATE             C11-199939
As previously released, on Wednesday, September 21st, 2011 just before 3:30 p.m., Winnipeg Police Service units were dispatched to a residence in the area of Niakwa Road and Pine Bluff Road after receiving reports of an injured female within the residence. 
 
Upon arrival officers and emergency services responders located an elderly female suffering from upper body injuries. The victim was conveyed to the hospital where she succumbed to her injuries. 
 
An adult female was located within the residence and she was taken into custody without incident. 
 
Cause of death has been determined to be blunt force trauma to the upper body. 
 
The victim has been identified as Rahima SACRANIE, 84 years of Winnipeg.  
 
Sahar SACRANIE, 19 years of Winnipeg has been charged with second degree murder for her alleged involvement into this incident.  She remains in custody.
