Missing Person – Dominick Goertzen C14-252486
The Winnipeg Police Service is requesting the public's assistance in locating 17-year-old male, Dominick GOERTZEN. GOERTZEN was last seen in the Fort Rouge area of Winnipeg on November 25th, 2014.
 
GOERTZEN is described as: Aboriginal, 5'8", 130 pounds with a thin build and medium length dark hair; he was last seen wearing a long dark coloured jacket, dark green camouflage pants, high-top army style black boots, black toque, and carrying a black backpack. 
  
Police are concerned for DOMINICK'S well-being. Anyone with information regarding his whereabouts is asked to contact the Winnipeg Police Service Missing Persons Unit at (204) 986-6250.

Stabbing Investigation Update – Homicide Arrest C14-254872
As previously released, on November 29, 2014 after 2:00 a.m., emergency personnel were dispatched to a residence in the 100 block of La Verendrye Street for the report of a stabbing.
 
A 31-year-old male was located and found to be suffering from an apparent stab wound in the upper body.  He was transported to hospital in critical condition where he later succumbed to his injuries.
 
The victim has been identified as Victor Cory HARDISTY of Winnipeg.
 
Members of the Homicide Unit were notified and continued to investigate with the assistance of members from the Forensic Identification Section.
 
The investigation has revealed that the victim had arrived at the residence shortly before the incident occurred.  A drinking party commenced which resulted in an argument a few hours later between the victim and suspect. The dispute escalated to the point where the suspect produced a weapon and stabbed the victim. The suspect fled the residence and police were summoned.
 
On November 29, 2014 at approximately 4:15 p.m., Elvis Marcel MCKAY, 38 years of Winnipeg was arrested at a residence on Manitoba Avenue. He has been charged with the following for his alleged involvement:
 
Second Degree Murder
Fail to Comply Condition Recognizance x 6
 
He was remanded into custody.

Stabbing Investigation – C14-254872
On November 29, 2014 shortly after 2:00 a.m. emergency personnel were dispatched to the 100 block of La Verendrye Street for the report of a stabbing.
 
A 31-year-old male was located and found to be suffering from an apparent stab wound to the upper body.  He was transported to hospital in critical condition.
 
Members of the East District Crime Unit are continuing with the investigation.

No arrests have been made and further information is unavailable at this time.

Commercial Robbery Arrest – C14-250323
Between November 19 & 28, 2014 the Winnipeg Police Service received the report of several commercial robberies.  They include:
 
November 19 – 1000 block of Notre Dame Avenue
November 21 – 800 block of Arlington Avenue
November 23 – 1300 block of Main Street
November 23 – 1000 block of McPhillips Street
November 23 – 1300 block of Main Street
November 24 – 700 block of Mountain Avenue
November 24 – 1000 block of Notre Dame Avenue
November 25 – 700 block of Mountain Avenue
November 25 – 1100 block of Main Street
November 25 – 1800 block of Main Street
November 26 – 1000 block of Notre Dame Avenue
November 26 – 1000 block of Notre Dame Avenue
November 28 – 300 block of McPhillips Street
 
The crimes spree resulted in the suspect obtaining cash, cigarettes and lottery tickets.  No one was injured during any of the incidents.

Members of the Major Crimes Unit continued with the investigation and with the assistance of Divisional and Street Crimes Units a suspect was identified.
 
On the evening of November 28th the suspect was located and arrested without incident in the 800 block of Pritchard Avenue.
 
John Raven WARD 30 years of Winnipeg is facing numerous robbery and breach of court order related charges for his alleged involvement.
 
He was detained in custody.

 

Person Robbery Arrest – C14-254581
On November 28, 2014 shortly after 6:30 p.m. Winnipeg Police Service members were dispatched to the area of Bellavista Crescent and Rogan Drive for the report of person having just been robbed.
 
Information provided was that the victim had been walking in the area when she was grabbed by a male who was armed with a weapon.  The suspect threatened to assault her and stole her purse.  She was not injured.
 
Several units attended and with the assistance of Canine a suspect was located and arrested in the area without incident.  The stolen property was recovered.
 
A 15-year-old male of Winnipeg has been charged with Robbery, Uttering Threats and Possession of Weapon for Dangerous Purpose for his alleged involvement.
 
He was detained in custody.

Update - Serious Motor Vehicle Collision –
Male Wanted - C14-229022

As previously released - On October 26, 2014 at approximately 2:40 a.m., emergency personnel responded to a hit and run motor vehicle collision involving a pedestrian in the area of Marbury Road and Mapleglen Drive.
 
The investigation revealed that the occupants of two vehicles became involved in dispute, possibly due to manner of driving.
 
At one point, the occupants of a black, Infiniti G35 stopped in the area and a 31 year-old male passenger exited the vehicle in attempt to speak with the other driver. The driver of the suspect vehicle, still in the area, suddenly drove in the direction of the male passenger, now out in the roadway, striking him while travelling at a high rate of speed.
 
The victim was transported to hospital in critical condition where he later succumbed to his injuries.
 
Members of the Homicide Unit were tasked with further investigation which led to the identity of a suspect.  Investigators have exhausted all efforts to locate the suspect and a warrant of arrest has been obtained.  Police are requesting the public's assistance in locating following male:

 

Terrence Jack MCKAY
24 years


 

 
Second Degree Murder, Causing Death by Criminal Negligence, Fail to Stop at Scene of Accident Involving Death & Dangerous Operation of a Motor Vehicle Causing Death
 

 

MCKAY is described as: Aboriginal, 6'1" in height, 150 pounds with a thin build, short brown hair, and green eyes.
 
Anyone with information regarding MCKAY'S whereabouts is asked to contact investigators at 204-986-6508 or CrimeStoppers at 204-786-TIPS (8477).
 
 
Stabbing Update – C14-254081
As previously released, on November 28, 2014 shortly after 2:30 a.m. emergency personnel were dispatched to the 800 block of Main Street for the report of a stabbing.
 
Upon arrival, four victims were located and transported to hospital.  All were listed in stable condition.
 
A suspect was arrested at the scene and the investigation is continuing by members of the District 3 Crime Unit.
 
Investigation revealed that the accused had been socializing within one of the suites when he was asked to leave.  The accused became upset and proceeded to stab three victims, two females, 39 & 42 years of age, along with a 34-year-old male, all in the upper body.  He was subdued by the fourth victim, a 23-year-old security guard who sustained upper body injuries as well.
 
A 17-year-old male of Winnipeg has been charged with the following offences for his alleged involvement:

  • Attempt to Commit Murder
  • Aggravated Assault x 2
  • Assault with a Weapon

He was detained in custody.

Missing Person – Corrina Monkman – R14-84818
The Winnipeg Police Service is requesting the public's assistance in locating a missing 17-year-old female, Corrina MONKMAN.
 
MONKMAN was last seen on Wednesday, November 19, 2014 in the Fort Rouge area of Winnipeg.
 
MONKMAN is described as: Aboriginal, 5'7" tall, approximately 185 pounds with long black hair. She was last seen wearing a black jacket, black sweat pants, an orange hoodie and red and white runners.

 


Police are concerned for MONKMAN'S wellbeing.

Annual Snow Route Parking Ban begins Monday, December 1, 2014

Parking will be prohibited on Snow Routes between 2:00 a.m. and 7:00 a.m.

The City's Annual Snow Route Parking Ban will take effect at 2:00 a.m. on Monday, December 1, 2014. Vehicles may not park on designated snow routes between 2:00 a.m. and 7:00 a.m.
 
The Annual Snow Route Parking Ban is in effect from December 1 to March 1.
 
Avoid a ticket and tow
 
Vehicles parked in violation of the Annual Snow Route Parking Ban will receive a $100 ticket ($50 if paid early), and may be towed to the towing company's compound.
 
Citizens are encouraged to check their streets for Snow Route signs, or if unsure, to contact 311 or use the online Address Lookup Tool.
 
Snow routes are a top priority for snow clearing to ensure that emergency vehicles can navigate quickly and safely around the city. It's important that vehicles are not parked on snow routes overnight in order to enable rapid and efficient snow clearing of these critical routes.

Shots Fired Update – Arrests - C14-65875
As previously released, on April 1, 2014 shortly after 1:30 a.m. Winnipeg Police Service members were dispatched to a residence within the 100 block of Walnut Street for reports of shots being fired. 
 
Upon arrival, officers located property damage consistent with a firearm being discharged.
 
There were no reported injuries.
 
This investigation continued by members of the Major Crimes Unit who, with the assistance of the Forensic Services Unit, were able to link two suspects to the incident.
 
On October 20th officers located and arrested one of the suspects without incident.
 
Tamim AHMADZAI 19 years of Winnipeg was charged with numerous firearms related offences for his alleged involvement and subsequently detained in custody.
 
On November 27th the second suspect was arrested.
 
Hamed SHAHNAWAZ 25 years of Brampton, Ontario has been charged with numerous firearms related offences for his alleged involvement and was detained in custody.
 
 
Stabbing – C14-254081
On November 28, 2014 shortly after 2:30 a.m. emergency personnel were dispatched to the 800 block of Main Street for the report of a stabbing.
 
Upon arrival, four victims were located and transported to hospital.  All are listed in stable condition.
 
One male is currently in custody and the investigation is continuing by members of the District 3 Crime Unit.
 
No further information is available at this time.

Commercial Robbery – C14-253021
On November 26, 2014 at approximately 6:30 p.m. members of the Winnipeg Police Service were dispatched to the 1500 block of Logan Avenue for the report of a commercial robbery.
 
Officers learned that a male, with his identity concealed and armed with a weapon, had entered the store.  He demanded and received an undisclosed amount of cash after which he stole merchandise and then fled on foot.
 
No one was injured during the incident.
 
The suspect is described as: 18-20 years of age, 5'9"–6'1" tall with a skinny build.  He spoke in a high pitched tone.
 
The investigation is continuing by members of the Major Crimes Unit. Anyone with information regarding this matter or the identity of the suspect is asked to contact investigators at (204) 986-6219 or Crime Stoppers at (204) 786-TIPS (8477).
 
 
Commercial Robbery – C14-253136
On November 26, 2014 shortly before 9:30 p.m. the Winnipeg Police Service received the report of a commercial robbery that had occurred in the 1000 block of Notre Dame Avenue.
 
It was learned that a male, armed with a weapon, had entered the store.  He demanded money from the employee, however fled prior to obtaining any when a customer entered the store.  The suspect then attended to a second business within the same building and again demanded money.  The employee ran to an office where he observed the suspect to steal merchandise and then flee on foot.
 
No one was injured during the incident.
 
The suspect is described as: Caucasian, 20-40 years of age, 5'4"–5'6" tall with a slim to medium build.
 
The investigation is continuing by members of the Major Crimes Unit. Anyone with information regarding this matter or the identity of the suspect is asked to contact investigators at (204) 986-6219 or Crime Stoppers at (204) 786-TIPS (8477).
