HOMICIDE INVESTIGATION – ARREST C12-203221
On October 8, 2012, at approximately 2:10 a.m., the Winnipeg Police Service received an emergency call to attend a residence located in the 100 block of Lindsay Street due to a stabbing incident.
 
The investigation has revealed that several family members were gathered. At one point during the early morning hours, two brothers, 22 and 25 years of age became involved in a verbal dispute. The altercation escalated at which time other family members attempted to intervene.
 
The fight continued when the 22 year old armed himself with a knife and stabbed the 25 year old male.
 
Attending members located the injured male in the front yard of the home. He was conveyed from the scene in critical condition.
 
Later the same morning, Christopher Barry LARCHE, 25 years of Winnipeg succumbed to injuries sustained.
 
The investigation was initiated by members of the Major Crimes Unit and continued by members of the Homicide Unit.
 
Justin Frederick LARCHE, 22 years of Winnipeg has been charged with Manslaughter due to his alleged involvement. He was detained.  
 
Autopsy results are pending.
 
FATAL MOTOR VEHCILE COLLSION C12-203379
As previously released – On October 8, 2012, emergency personnel were called to the area of Portage Avenue and Young Street at approximately 12:10 p.m., as a result of a multiple vehicle collision.
 
The investigation has revealed that a Chevrolet Lumina was travelling in a westbound direction on Portage Avenue and being operated by a 53 year old male. As the vehicle approached Young Street, the driver was observed to swerve to the left, losing control and spinning into eastbound oncoming traffic. The Lumina was struck on the driver's side door by an eastbound Chevrolet Trail Blazer. A secondary collision occurred involving a Ford Contour which was also travelling in an eastbound direction.
 
Members of the Central Traffic Unit continued with the investigation resulting in road closures for a period of time. 
 
The 53 year old male was conveyed from the scene in critical condition, he has since succumbed to injuries sustained.
 
The investigation is continuing.
