HOMICIDE INVESTIGATION   C12-211281
On October 19, 2012, at approximately 6:55 a.m., emergency personnel responded to a residence located in the area of the 300 block of Regent Avenue East regarding a stabbing incident.
 
Attending members located an adult male with injuries to his upper body consistent with being stabbed. He was conveyed to hospital in critical condition.
 
An investigation revealed that the victim and a male who are acquaintances were at a small gathering when a dispute erupted. The dispute escalated, at which time a stabbing occurred.
 
Attending members located the male suspect, Gerald MUSTARD, 40 years, of Winnipeg who was still on scene. He was arrested and taken into custody and charged with Aggravated Assault.
 
The victim remained in critical condition but later succumbed to his injuries. The deceased has been identified as: Anthony SOROKOWSKI, 50 years old of Winnipeg.
 
On Monday, October 22, MUSTARD was charged with 2nd Degree Murder. He was detained in custody.
 
Members of the Major Crimes Unit continue to investigate.  
 
 
COMMERCIAL ROBBERY    C12-213855
On October 22, 2012 at approximately 6:15 p.m., members of the Winnipeg Police Service responded to the 400 block of St. Anne's Road for the report of a commercial robbery to a store.
 
The investigation revealed that a female attended to a store and confronted a 19 year old female employee. The female suspect demanded and received an undisclosed amount of cash before fleeing from the store.
 
The victim did not sustain injury as a result of this incident.
 
The suspect is described as: Female, Caucasian, approximately 20 years old with tanned skin and long blonde hair.
 
The investigation is continuing by members of the Major Crimes Unit. Anyone with information is asked to contact investigators at 204-986-6219 or CrimeStoppers at 204-786-TIPS (8477).
