FATAL MOTOR VEHICLE COLLISION - ARREST C12-62959
As previously released - on April 7, 2012, at approximately 5:45 p.m., members of the Winnipeg Police Service, including other emergency personnel responded to a motor vehicle collision in the area of the 3300 block of Portage Avenue.
 
The investigation has revealed that a 32 year old male driver of a Jeep Liberty had been travelling northbound in the area of Rouge Road and Allard Avenue when he lost control of his vehicle. The Jeep continued northbound crossing Portage Avenue at a high rate of speed entering a shopping centre parking lot.
 
The vehicle eventually came to a stop after colliding with the front of a business which had been occupied by two adult females.
 
As a result of the collision, a 27 year old female succumbed to her injuries.  A 25 year old female survived the incident.
 
The investigation continued by members of the Central Traffic Unit.
 
A comprehensive examination was performed and it has been determined that the vehicle was mechanically sound at the time of the collision. The investigation has ruled out mechanical failure.
 
On September 28, 2012, at approximately 11:10 a.m., 32 year old Adebola SHOYOYE was charged due to his alleged involvement with the following offences: Criminal Negligence Cause Death, Criminal Negligence Cause Bodily Harm, Dangerous Operation Causing Death and Dangerous Operation Causing Bodily Harm.    
 
 
SUSPICIOUS MALE C12-198306
On October 1, 2012, at approximately 9:30 a.m., officers responded to the area of Sharp Street and Lodge Avenue regarding a suspicious male in a vehicle.
 
Officers met with an 11 year old male who reported that he was approached while walking in the area by an unknown male in a vehicle. The suspect told the young male that he had been asked by his mother to pick him up and drive him to school.  The victim declined and the suspect drove off, only to return a second time. Again, the suspect offered him a ride however, the victim declined.
 
No contact was made and the victim was not injured.
 
The suspect is described as: Male, Asian in appearance, 30-40 years of age, short black hair and clean shaven.
 
The suspect vehicle is described as: Four door, navy blue, possibly a Pontiac.

SEXUAL ASSAULT INVESTIGATION - ARREST R10-32499
In early 2010, Winnipeg Police Service members received reports of sexual assault involving an adult male. These incidents allegedly occurred between 2008 and 2010 while the suspect male was employed in a Winnipeg business focusing on holistic medicine.
 
It's alleged that the suspect inappropriately touched several female victims during the process of receiving treatment.
 
After a lengthy investigation by members of the Sex Crimes Unit, additional victims were identified and an arrest warrant was issued. Attempts to locate the suspect were initially unsuccessful.
 
On September 20, 2012, Yven Jean BRETON, 62 years of age was located and arrested on the strength of the warrant.  
 
He has been charged with: Sexual Assault x 5 due to his alleged involvement. He was released on a Promise to Appear.
 
The investigation is on-going.  
 
 
WEAPON- ARREST C12-198461
On October 1, 2012, at approximately 2:30 p.m., numerous police resources responded to the area of the 1900 block of Pacific Avenue West regarding a gun seen incident.
 
The investigation has revealed that a male suspect drove up to a convenience store in the area of King Edward Street and Lismore Avenue and confronted a male and female victim (both 32 years of age). At the time of the incident, the adult victims were in the company of two young children.
 
The suspect, who is unknown to the victims, produced a handgun and pointed it in their direction, causing them to flee in their vehicle. The suspect pursued them in his own vehicle and subsequently began ramming their vehicle from behind numerous times over a distance of ten blocks.
 
The victims safely fled and notified police. The firearm was not discharged and no injuries were reported.
 
Uniform Patrol members and the Tactical Support Team located and arrested 49 year old Kevin Maurice SYLVESTER near a residence in the downtown area.
 
A loaded firearm was located and seized.
 
Officer's executed a warrant at the suspect's home where two loaded magazines were also located and seized.
 
He is facing numerous offences in relation to the incident. He was detained.
