BRADY LANDFILL SEARCH CONCLUDED
On October 3, 2012, members of the Winnipeg Police Service commenced a search at the Brady Landfill site for the remains of Tanya NEPINAK. A traditional ceremony was previously held at the landfill site which identified a focussed search area.
 
The search was completed on October 9, 2012 and no evidence pertinent to the investigation was located.
 
The search team consisted of nine Winnipeg Police Service members.

During the search, officers were faced with many challenges at the landfill site which were compounded by high winds, cool temperatures and precipitation.
 
The search at the Brady landfill site is now concluded, however the search for Tanya NEPINAK is on-going.

HOMICIDE - UPDATE - ARREST C12 -196569
As previously released - on September 29, 2012, at approximately 12:20 a.m., members of the Winnipeg Police Service and other emergency personnel responded to the 600 block of Maryland Street regarding shots being fired.
 
Moments later, a second call to police indicated that a male had been located and was suffering from a gunshot wound. Attending members located the injured male and while searching the area, a second male was found to be suffering from injuries consistent with being shot.
 
Jordan Dennis HOULE, 24 years old of Winnipeg was conveyed from the scene in critical condition and later succumbed to his injuries. A 19 year old male was conveyed from the scene in serious condition and was later upgraded to stable condition.
 
As a result of an on-going investigation by Members of the Homicide Unit, Michael Frank OKEMOW, 24 years old of Winnipegwas located in the 500 block of Langside Street on Wednesday, October 3, 2012 at approximately 2:30 p.m. He was arrested and taken into custody. 
 
Michael Frank OKEMOW has been charged with 2nd Degree Murder and Attempted Murder.He was detained.
 
The investigation continued which resulted in the identification of a second male suspect.
 
On October 10, 2012, at approximately 1:40 p.m., investigators located and arrested, Edward Arthur COUTU, 27 years old of Winnipeg. He has been charged with 2nd Degree Murder and Attempted Murder. He was detained.
 
**Attention members of the media** Investigators are requesting the media not release any photos of the accused at this time. If the accused photo is published in the media this may compromise on-going witness interviews and jeopardize the investigation.
 
The investigation is continuing by the Homicide Unit.
  
SUSPICIOUS PERSON C12-204804
On October 10, 2012, at approximately 2:45 p.m., officers responded to the area of the 600 block of Ellice Avenue regarding a suspicious male in a vehicle.
 
Attending members met with two 11 year old females who advised that they had been walking in the area when a vehicle and male occupant approached them. The male rolled down his passenger side window and asked the girls if they needed a ride. The girls declined the offer and continued to walk away.
 
The suspect followed the girls and then proceeded to asked if they could help him locate his lost puppy. The suspect eventually drove off and the girls were unharmed.
 
The suspect is described as:
 
Male, Asian in appearance, 40-50 years of age, described as having "droopy" facial features, wearing sunglasses and short sleeve shirt.
 
The vehicle is described as:
 
Dark navy-blue min-van.
 
The investigation is continuing. Anyone with information regarding this matter is asked to contact police at 204 986-6245 or Crime Stoppers at 204 786-TIPS (8477).
