Sexual Assault Investigation – Arrest – C14-184919
As previously released, on August 20, 2014 at approximately 9:20 p.m., a 48 year-old female was walking in the area of Netley Street and North Drive when she observed a young male on a bike riding toward her. The male initially drove past her but continued to look in her direction.
 
Approximately two minutes later, the male rode up behind the female and groped her in the lower body. The victim screamed and the male suspect eventually left the area. Police were notified and met with the victim.
 
Members of the West District Crime Unit continued with the investigation and learned that the male was responsible for two similar incidents in the area earlier that same evening involving two separate victims, 53 & 42 years of age.
 
On August 30, 2014 it was reported that a group of three girls were walking in the area of Crescent Drive Park at approximately 8:20 p.m. that evening.  It was at this time a male on a bike rode up from behind and groped one of the girls, 13 years of age, in the lower body.
 
On September 3, 2014 the suspect was located and arrested without incident in the area where the incidents occurred.
 
A 17-year-old male from Keewatin, Ontario has been charged with Sexual Assault x 4 for his alleged involvement.
 
He was released via a Promise to Appear.
 
 
Court Order Violation Arrest – R14-64697
Members of the Manitoba High Risk Sex Offenders Unit are, among other duties, tasked with the monitoring of those designated to be high risk sex offenders.
 
On the evening of September 3, 2014 members attended to the 300 block of Cumberland Avenue to ensure that one such offender was abiding by the conditions of his Recognizance which had been issued in March of 2014.  At that time the accused was found to be in breach of one of his conditions.  He was subsequently arrested without incident.
 
Dalas Darcy BROEKAERT, 44 years of Winnipeg has been charged with Breach of Recognizance.
 
He was detained in custody.
 
Grow Operation Arrests - R14-63360
On September 3, 2014, members of the Winnipeg Police Marihuana Grow Operation Unit, with the assistance of the Tactical Support Team executed a Controlled Drugs and Substances Act (CDSA) search warrant at a residence located in the 400 block of Scotia Street.
 
A search of the residence resulted in the following seizure:
 
1043 Marihuana plants – estimated street value of $1,168,160.00
3.4 pounds of dry marihuana – estimated street value of $8,500.00
Grow operation equipment – valued at $22,000.00
$5,500.00 in Canadian currency
$400.00 in U.S. currency
 
A 49-year-old male and 42-year-old female, both of Winnipeg, were arrested at the scene.

For their alleged involvement, both are facing charges of: Produce a Scheduled Substance – CANNABIS (MARIHUANA), Possession of a Scheduled Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking – CANNABIS (MARIHUANA) and Possess Proceeds of Crime.
 
Both were released via Promises to Appear.
