Stolen Vehicle Arrests – R14-66973
Between September 13 and September 14, 2014, a 2009 Kia Rio5 was stolen from the area of the 1000 block of Nairn Avenue and reported to police.
 
On September 16, 2014 at approximately 12:30 a.m., Patrol members observed the stolen vehicle being operated in the area of Alexander Avenue and Keewatin Street. A traffic stop was attempted however the driver and two other occupants fled from police by accelerating at a high rate of speed.
 
The vehicle was followed to the area of Pacific Avenue West and Oddy Street where the three suspects fled from the vehicle on foot.
 
A containment area was set up and with the assistance of the Canine Unit the three suspects were located and arrested without incident.
 
A 14-year-old male of Winnipeg has been charged with Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Over $5000.00 for his alleged involvement.  He was detained at the Manitoba Youth Centre.
 
A 16-year-old male of Winnipeg is facing the same charge for his alleged involvement.  He was released via a Promise to Appear.
 
A second 14-year-old male of Winnipeg is facing charges of Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Over $5000.00, Flight while Pursued by Peace Officer, Drive without or with invalid license, Drive without motor vehicle liability insurance & Drive motor vehicle while under 16 years of age for his alleged involvement.  He was released via a Promise to Appear.
 
 
Robbery, Theft and Break-In Investigation Arrests – C14-196638
Between December 2013 and September 2014, three male suspects became involved in a crime spree consisting of robbery, vehicle thefts and a break-in.
 
The incidents are as follows:
 
Robbery 1500 block of St. Mary's Road – victim bear sprayed – nothing stolen
Vehicle stolen (Ford Explorer) – Louis Road
Motor vehicle collision with stolen vehicle – Hay Street
Stolen vehicle (Honda Civic) – 1000 block of Bairdmore Boulevard
Motor vehicle collision with stolen vehicle – Pembina Highway and Kirkbridge Drive
In possession of a stolen vehicle (GMC Sierra)
In possession of a stolen vehicle (Ford Edge)
Residential Break-in – Elm Park Road – vehicle stolen (Rav4)
 
On September 15, 2014, an off-duty officer observed the three suspects in the previously stolen Rav4 in the area of Montgomery Avenue.
 
Patrol members responded and all three were taken into custody. The investigation continued by members of the East District Crime Unit.
 
Austin GUIBOCHE 19 years-old, Hunter SCHWARTZ 18 years-old and a 14 year-old male have been charged with numerous offences due to their involvement.
 
They were remanded into custody.
