Project Return, September 11, 2014
The Winnipeg Police Service's Counter Exploitation Unit, Counter Exploitation Team, Division 11 Community Support, District 3 and the Missing Persons Unit, in partnership with Outreach Workers from StreetReach Winnipeg initiated a joint project with the aim of protecting youth within our city who are at high risk of being sexually exploited.
 
On September 11, 2014, this proactive effort resulted in: 

  • Four males being arrested for Communicating for the Purpose of Engaging in Prostitution. 
  • Twenty six addresses being checked for missing youth
  • Three at risk youth being located and each transported to a place of safety
  • 1 Adult arrest for a Warrant for Failing to Comply with Conditions of Probation x4  
  • Six DISC stops (Deter Identify Sex Trade Workers and Consumers) stops were conducted to help identify those involved in the sex trade. 
  • 6 Provincial Offence Notices issues for HTA infractions by Sex Trade Consumers
  • 4 Vehicles seized under the Prostitution HTA Offences

Our commitment to issues surrounding our missing youth will continue.
 
StreetReach Winnipeg is an organization that is committed to protecting at risk youth in our community.  It is comprised of numerous organizations including the Child Protection Branch, All Nations Coordinated Response Network, MaryMound Inc., Mamawi and MARTR (Manitoba Association for Residential Treatment Resources).
 
 
Drug Warrant Arrests – C14-193222
Earlier this month, members of the Winnipeg Police Service Street Crime Unit became involved in an investigation regarding the trafficking of crack cocaine by both the Native Syndicate and T-Money Street gangs.
 
As a result of the investigation, officers applied for and were granted Controlled Drugs & Substances search warrants for two separate residences.
 
On September 9 the first warrant, with the assistance of the Tactical Support Team, was executed in the 400 block of Manitoba Avenue.  Numerous persons were located within and arrested without incident.  The following was located and seized:

  • 68 x ¼ gram rocks of crack cocaine
  • 8.6 grams of powder cocaine
  • 4.7 grams of Psilocybin
  • 20 pills of Tylenol 3 with Codeine
  • $2085.00 in Canadian Currency
  • 2 canisters of bear spray
  • Packaging materials and scale

On September 10, the second warrant was executed in the 600 block of Union Avenue East.  The following was located and seized:

  • Gang paraphernalia
  • $1760.00 in Canadian Currency
  • .22 calibre rifle with ammunition
  • .303 calibre rifle with ammunition

Devin Beardy (20) of Winnipeg and Dimitri Slone ROULETTE (21) of Sandy Bay, Mb have both been charged with several drug and weapons related offences for their alleged involvement.
 
Both were detained in custody.
 
Five males, 14, 15, 18, 20, & 31 years of age along with three females, 18, 22 & 24 years of age are facing a multitude of drug and weapons related offences for their alleged involvement.
 
All were released via Promises to Appear.
