Commercial Robbery – C14-192680
On September 9, 2014 at approximately 10:40 p.m., officers responded to a convenience store located in the 1000 block of McPhillips Street regarding a robbery that just occurred.
 
It was reported that a male armed with a knife confronted staff and robbed the business of an undisclosed amount of cigarettes. No one was injured and the suspect fled.
 
The suspect is described as:
 
Male, Aboriginal in appearance, in his 20's, 5'6"-5'7" tall, heavy build
 
The investigation is continuing by members of the Major Crimes Unit. Anyone with information regarding the robbery is asked to contact investigators at 204-986-6219 or Crime Stoppers at 204-786-TIPS (8477).
 
 
Commercial Break-In Arrest – C14-190958
On September 7, 2014 at approximately 6:45 p.m., a business located in the first 100 block of Higgins Avenue was broken into. It was reported that a male suspect forced entry by using a rock to smash the front door. While inside, a variety of tools were stolen. Prior to the suspect fleeing, the suspect became involved in an argument with an area resident.
 
Due to public assistance, Patrol members and Canine tracked the suspect to the area of the riverbank located in the first 100 block of Higgins Avenue. The suspect was taken into custody and arrested.
 
Members of the Division 11 Crime Unit continued to investigate.
 
Lewis SITAR, 48 years-old has been charged with the following due to his alleged involvement:
 
Break Enter & Commit – Place
Uttering Threats – Cause Death or Bodily Harm
Fail to Comply with Probation Order
Fail to Comply Condition Recognizance
 
He was remanded into custody.
 
 
Child Pornography Arrest – R14-56216
On September 9, 2014 at approximately 9:00 a.m., members of the Internet Child Exploitation Unit (ICE) with the assistance of the Technological Crime Section executed a search warrant at a suite located on Ritchot Street.
 
A number of electronics was seized and the investigation is on-going.
 
A 43 year-old male was located and placed under arrest. He is facing the following charges:
 
Possession of Child Pornography
Imports, Distributes, Sells or Possesses for the Purpose of Distribution or Sale any Child Pornography
Access any Child Pornography
 
He was released on a Promise to Appear with conditions.
 
 
Break In and Theft Arrests – C14-189801
On September 6, 2014 between 12:00 a.m. and 3:25 a.m., numerous garages and vehicles were broken into at which time property stolen involving two male suspects. The incidents are as follows:
 
Kirkfield Street – Garage
Wharton Boulevard – Garage
Westwood Drive Vehicle
Portage Avenue – Vehicle
Alguire Avenue – Vehicle
Alcott Street – Vehicle
Alcott Street – Vehicle
School Road – Vehicle
Amarynth Crescent – Vehicle
 
Property such as, loose change, sunglasses and other personal items was stolen.
 
Patrol and Canine Unit members responded to the area of Amarynth Crescent and Portage Avenue where both suspects were located and placed under arrest.
 
The investigation continued by members of the West District Crime Unit.
 
Two 15 year-old males have been charged with the following and remanded into custody.
 
Theft Under $5000.00 x 3
Possession of Break In Instruments
Possession of a Weapon
Possession of Property Obtained by Crime
Mischief – Obstruct in Enjoyment x 5
Break and Enter with Intent – Place x 2
