POLICE AND PARTNER AGENCIES TEAM UP FOR SPECIALIZED TRAINING IN CHILD EXPLOITATION

The Winnipeg Police Service is committed to keeping children safe within the community.  The Service has brought Dr. Joe Sullivan of Mentor Forensic Services to conduct specialized training for the Winnipeg Police Service and other partner agencies in regards to child sexual exploitation and offender behaviour.

The Specialist Interview Course teaches and develops profiling of offenders, the understanding of offender behaviour and progressive interview techniques. The training is being coordinated by the Winnipeg Police Service and includes representatives from Child Welfare, Law Enforcement, and other agencies from across Canada and the U.S.

The Winnipeg Police Service has brought Dr. Sullivan to Winnipeg on two previous occasions, and over 200 individuals have received the training.  Dr. Sullivan is based out of Ireland, and   has over 30 years of experience and has worked extensively with law enforcement delivering training and conducting research on child sexual exploitation.

The training brings an enhanced understanding of offender behaviour which provides a better opportunity to protect children within our communities.  Dr. Sullivan was brought to Winnipeg with the financial support from the Province of Manitoba's Criminal Forfeiture Unit.
