SERIOUS SEXUAL ASSAULT C12-90192 On May 16, 2012 at approximately 03:55 a.m., members of the Winnipeg Police Service responded to the 300 block of River Avenue regarding a serious sexual assault. The investigation revealed that at approximately 2:30 a.m., a male entered the residence of a lone 21 year old female victim while she slept. While inside the residence the male suspect armed himself with a knife and approached the victim. The victim was awakened by the suspect at which time a struggle took place, and the suspect seriously sexually assaulted the victim. The male suspect is described as, Aboriginal in appearance, approximately 19-26 years old, 5'6" tall, medium build; wearing a dark coloured hoodie. This investigation is continuing by members of the Sex Crimes Unit. Anyone with information regarding this incident is asked to contact 204-986-6245 or CrimeStoppers at 204-786-TIPS (8477).
