TRAFFIC PURSUIT – DRUG ARRESTS C12-82226
On May, 5, 2012, at approximately 1:55 p.m., patrolling members initiated a traffic stop in the area of Jefferson Avenue and Sheppard Street involving a Ford Escort.
 
The driver of the vehicle initially complied, however the vehicle and occupants suddenly fled from police travelling at a high rate of speed.
 
Officers pursued the vehicle for a short period of time, while observing the suspect vehicle disobey numerous traffic control devices. Due to the unsafe manner of driving by the suspect, officers aborted their pursuit.
 
At approximately 2:10 p.m., the suspect vehicle was abandoned in the area of the 100 block of Manor House Court at which time one of the suspects fled the area on foot.
 
Due to the efforts of numerous officers, both suspects were taken into custody. Both suspects were found to be in possession of a quantity of prescription drugs including other drug paraphernalia.
 
A 29 year old male has been charged with the following offences:
 
  • Dangerous Operation of a Motor Vehicle
  • Flight from Police Officer
  • Breach Probation
  • Possessing Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking x 2
  • HTA – Drive while Disqualified 
A 37 year old male has been charged with the following offence:
 
  • Possessing Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking
They were detained at the Provincial Remand Centre.
 
 
ASSAULT WITH A WEAPON – ARREST C12-82577
On May 5, 2012, at approximately 11:15 p.m., Uniform Patrol members responded to a noise complaint and disturbance as a result of a party in the area of the 100 block of Walnut Street.
 
Upon attending, further information was provided regarding a male suspect armed with a handgun.
 
Due to the nature of the call for service, members of the Tactical Support Team, Canine Unit and Air1 responded to the area.
 
While in the area of Maryland Street and Westminster Avenue, officers made contact with the suspect who then produced a handgun and pointed it in the direction of officers and their cruiser car. The gun was not discharged. The suspect then fled the area on foot however he was taken into custody and arrested near Purcell Avenue and Maryland Street at approximately 1:10 a.m.
 
Officers have recovered a black semi-automatic pellet gun and magazine.
 
An 18 year old male is facing the following charges:
 
  • Assault with a Weapon x 2
  • Point Firearm x 2
  • Carrying Concealed Weapon
  • Possession of Weapon for Dangerous Purpose
He was detained.
