VEHICLE ROBBERY C12-81879
On May 5, 2012, at approximately 1:30 a.m., officers responded to the area of the 700 block of Simcoe Street regarding a vehicle robbery incident involving a taxi cab.
 
Attending members met with a 43 year old male cab driver who was observed to have sustained minor injuries as a result of the incident.
 
The investigation has revealed that the cab driver had been dispatched to the 300 block of Kennedy Street, at which time three males entered the cab. After a short period of time, the driver was asked to stop the cab, when the suspects proceeded to assault and threaten him. The victim was eventually pushed out of the cab and robbed of a quantity of cash and cellular phone. The suspects fled in the stolen taxi cab, leaving the driver behind.
 
Due to the efforts of Uniform Patrol members, the Canine Unit and Air1, the stolen vehicle (Grey Toyota Corolla) was located abandoned in the area of the 800 block of Alverstone Street.
 
The suspects are described as:
 
#1 – Aboriginal in appearance, 30-35 years, heavy build, brush cut hair.
 
#2 – Aboriginal in appearance, 25-30 years, long black hair, beard and moustache.
 
#3 – Aboriginal in appearance, 20-30 years, short black straight hair.
 
The investigation is continuing by members of the Division 11 Crime Unit. Anyone with information regarding this matter is asked to contact investigators at 204-986-6668 or CrimeStoppers at 204-786-TIPS (8477).
 
 
ASSAULT WITH A WEAPON – ARREST C12-81837
On May 5, 2012, at approximately 12:30 a.m., members of the Winnipeg Police Service responded to the area of the 800 block of Main Street regarding the report of an injured person(s) being located.
 
Attending members located a male (44 years) and female (47 years) with upper body injuries. It was further learned that a third victim (28 year old female) was also involved. Officers subsequently attended to a suite where it was believed that the incident began.
 
Since this time, a 43 year old male has been arrested and is facing charges.  
 
At this stage of the investigation, it appears that the incident occurred during a drinking party where everyone was known to each other.
 
The investigation is continuing by members of the District 3 Crime Unit.
