AGGRAVATED ASSAULT – ARRESTS C12-160303
On August 13, 2012, at approximately 12:40 a.m., officers responded to the 500 block of Boyd Avenue regarding the report of damage to property.
 
Attending members discovered that the front picture window of a residence had been smashed by four male suspects who had since fled the area.
 
At the time of the incident, four occupants of the home proceeded to chase the suspects, catching up with one of them in the area of the 400 block of Aberdeen Avenue. The occupants of the home produced weapons at which time the suspect was seriously assaulted.
 
The occupants of the home involved in the assault fled the area, leaving the injured male behind. Area residents contacted police.
 
The victim, a 22 year old male sustained numerous injuries as a result of the incident. He is in stable condition.
 
Due to the investigative efforts of Uniform Patrol members and District 3 Detectives, a 15 year old male and 17 year male were arrested near the scene. They have been charged with several offences including: Aggravated Assault and Possession of Weapon for Dangerous Purpose. They were detained at the Manitoba Youth Centre.
 
Two other suspects involved in the assault have yet to be arrested.
 
The investigation is continuing.
 
 
FIREARM SEACH WARRANT – DRUG ARRESTS C12-159309
Acting on information, members of the WPS Street Crime Unit with the assistance of District's 2, 3 and 4 Community Support and the Tactical Support Team executed a Firearm Search Warrant at a residence located in the 200 block of Dufferin Avenue.
 
On August 11, 2012 at approximately 8:45 p.m., three occupants were located within the home and placed under arrest. A search of the premises revealed the following:
 
  • A quantity of Crack Cocaine valued at $340.00
  • A small quantity of Marihuana
  • A variety of ammunition
  • Cash
  • Pepper spray
  • 2 swords
  • 1 machete
A 15 year old male has been charged with the following offences and detained: Possessing substance for the purpose of trafficking, Possessing controlled Drug or Substance, Possess Proceeds of Crime, Possession of Firearm x 2, Possession of a Weapon for Dangerous Purpose and Failure to Comply with Sentence.
 
A 19 year old male has been charged with the following offences and detained: Unauthorized Possession of a Weapon, Possession of Firearm while Prohibited x 2, Possess Proceeds of Crime, Possessing Controlled Drug or Substance, Possessing substance for the Purpose of Trafficking and Breach of Probation.
 
A 28 year old female has been charged with the following offences and detained: Possessing substance for the Purpose of Trafficking, Possessing Controlled Drug or Substance, Possess Proceeds of Crime and Unauthorized Possession of Weapon.
 
 
FIRE C12-160972
On August 14, 2012, at approximately 12:25 a.m., emergency personnel responded to working fire in the area of the 500 block of Castle Avenue involving a garage and carport.
 
Damage is estimated at $30,000.00.
 
Two teenage suspects wearing baseball caps were observed fleeing the area on bikes.
 
The investigation is continuing by members of the Arson Strike Force. Anyone with information regarding this investigation is asked to contact police at 204-986-6813 or Crime Stoppers at 204 786-TIPS (8477).
