UPDATE - COMMERCIAL ROBBERY- ARREST – C12-153549
As previously released, on Saturday, August 4, 2012 at approximately 7:30 a.m., members of the Winnipeg Police Service were dispatched to a convenience store in the 800 block of Arlington Street regarding the report of a commercial robbery.
 
Responding officers learned that the female suspect, armed with a knife had entered the business and attended to the counter. The suspect proceeded to take an undisclosed amount of cash and cigarettes after which she fled the store.
 
Neither of the two employees working was hurt during the incident.
 
On August 16, 2012, at approximately 12:35 a.m., an armed female suspect attended to the same convenience store and confronted an employee by demanding cash. The suspect obtained an undisclosed amount of cash and cigarettes and fled the store.
 
On the same day, at approximately 3:40 p.m., a female suspect attended to a department store located in the area of the 1500 block of Portage Avenue. The suspect attempted to conceal merchandise and flee the business without making any attempt to pay.
 
The suspect was approached by a Loss Prevention Officer at which time the suspect produced a knife and attempted to assault him. The suspect fled and police were notified.
 
No one was injured as a result of the incident.
 
On August 24, 2012, at approximately 6:30 a.m., officers made contact with the female suspect in the area of the 700 block of Ellice Avenue.
 
Due to the efforts of uniform patrol members and members of the Major Crimes Unit, Shauna Lee OWEN, 23 years, has been charged with the following offences due to her alleged involvement:
 
  • Robbery with a Weapon x 3
  • Breach of Probation x 10
 
She was deatined.
 
 
STABBING C12-169272
On August 24, 2012, at approximately 8:25 p.m., officers responded to a suite located in the 100 block of Roslyn Road regarding a stabbing incident.
 
Attending members observed several occupants, specifically an injured 22 year old male. The male was suffering from injuries consistent with being stabbed. He is in stable condition.
 
The investigation has revealed that the suspects attended to the suite uninvited at which time an argument erupted. The situation escalated when one of the suspects produced a knife and stabbed the victim.
 
The suspects fled and police were notified.
 
No arrest(s) have been made at this time.
 
The investigation is continuing by members of the Division 16 Crime Unit.
 
 
ASSAULT WITH A WEAPON C12-169406
On August 24, 2012, at approximately 11:40 p.m., members of the Winnipeg Police Service responded to a residence in the area of Fuga Bay regarding an assault with a weapon incident.
 
At this stage of the investigation, it appears that several suspects attended to a home and confronted the occupants. As a result, a 17 year old male, 19 year old male and 42 year old male were assaulted during the incident. The suspects are believed to have fled in a vehicle.
 
Members of the Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service also attended. The victims are in stable condition.
 
Division 13 Detectives have been notified.
 
No further information is available at this time.
 
 
COMMERCIAL ROBBERY C12-169463
On August 25, 2012, at approximately 12:50 a.m., uniform patrol members responded to a convenience store located in the 700 block of Mountain Avenue regarding the report of a robbery incident.
 
Officers were advised that two male suspects entered the business and confronted two employees. Money was demanded and an undisclosed amount was obtained. The suspects fled with cash and merchandise.
 
No injuries were reported and no arrests have been made at this time.
 
The investigation is continuing by members of the Major Crimes Unit.
