ASSAULT INVESTIGATION – ARREST C12-159041
On August 11, 2012, at approximately 8:00 a.m., members of the Winnipeg Police Service responded to the 500 block of University Crescent regarding an assault incident.
 
Responding members located an injured 23 year old female suffering from minor upper body injuries.
 
The investigation has revealed that the victim entered a City of Winnipeg Transit bus at approximately 7:35 a.m. It is alleged that the victim was approached by the driver for putting her feet up on the seat and cautioned for falling asleep. The victim was asked to exit, however she refused. It was reported that the driver threw the victim's belongings out of the rear door, however the victim retrieved them and re-entered the bus. 
 
Due to this interaction, the argument escalated and a physical confrontation took place. The driver is alleged to have physically assaulted the female in attempt to remove her from the bus, but was unsuccessful.
 
The victim demanded that police be called, however the driver did not do so.
 
While stopped at approximately 7:50 a.m., a bystander was flagged down and the victim fled the bus. The transit driver drove off and police were notified.
 
At approximately 12:40 p.m., officers arrested a 53 year old male. He is facing the following charge: Assault.
 
He has been released on a Promise to Appear.
 
  
INDECENT ACT R12-79158
On August 12, 2012, at approximately 10:15 a.m., a 33 year old female victim attended to a WPS Service Centre for the purpose of reporting an indecent act.
 
The victim indicated that while standing on an apartment balcony, she observed a lone male performing an indecent act in public view near the area of the 800 block of St. Mary's Road.
 
The suspect is described as:
 
  • Male
  • Caucasian
  • Short
  • Stocky build
  • Short dark brown hair
  • Wearing: green shorts, white or light coloured t-shirt
  • Black hooded Sweatshirt
  • Black shoes with baggy white socks

RESIDENTIAL ROBBERY INVESTIGATION C12-160289
On August 13, 2012, just after midnight, officers responded to the 500 block of Herbert Avenue regarding three suspects forcing their way into a home.
 
A lone male occupant, 57 years, was confronted and assaulted. Property was removed and the suspects fled the area.
 
Members of the Major Crimes Unit continue to investigate and interviews are ongoing.
 
The victim is in stable condition.
 
No further details are available at this time.
 
 
COMMERCIAL ROBBERY C12-160129
On August 12, 2012, at approximately 7:00 p.m., Winnipeg Police Service members responded to a business located in the 3600 block of Roblin Boulevard regarding a commercial robbery incident.
 
The investigation has revealed that a lone male armed with a knife entered the business and confronted two female employees, 16 and 18 years of age.
 
No one was injured and the suspect made off with an undisclosed amount of cash.
 
The suspect is described as:
 
  • Male
  • Caucasian
  • 5'10" tall
  • Average build
  • Late 20's, early 30's
  • Clean shaven
