MALE SHOT – ARREST - UPDATE – C12-154021
As previously released, on Saturday, August 4th, 2012 at approximately 10:00 p.m., members of the Winnipeg Police Service were dispatched to the 600 block of Alexander Avenue for a report of a male that had been shot. 
 
Upon arrival officers located a 25 year old male suffering from a gun shot wound to the lower body. Paramedics transported the victim to the hospital in unstable condition however; he was upgraded to stable condition. 
 
On August 16, 2012, at approximately 6:50 p.m., members of the Major Crimes Unit arrested and charged 24 year old, Thomas Ross HALPIN with the following offences due to his alleged involvement.
 
  • Aggravated Assault
  • Discharge Fire with Intent
  • Careless Use of Firearm
  • Use Firearm in Commission of Offence
  • Possess Weapon for Dangerous Purpose
  • Unauthorized Possession of Firearm x 2
  • Possession of a Firearm while Prohibited
He was detained at the Provincial Remand Centre.
 
 
MALE SHOT C12-163037
On August 16, 2012, at approximately 8:40 p.m., uniform patrol members responded to the area of the 800 block of Aberdeen Avenue regarding the report of a male that had been shot.
 
The investigation has revealed that several suspects forced entry into a home, causing a group of occupants to flee. It was at this time one of the suspects produced a gun and discharged it in the direction of the group striking a teenage male.
 
The injured male is in stable condition.
  
The investigation is continuing by members of the Major Crimes Unit. Anyone with information regarding this matter is asked to contact investigators at 204 986-6219 or Crime Stoppers at 204 786-TIPS (8477).  
 
 
PUBLIC ASSISTANCE REQUIRE – MOTOR VEHICLE COLLISION
C12-102079
On May 31, 2012, at approximately 5:10 p.m., emergency personnel responded to the intersection of Academy Road and Cambridge Street regarding a motor vehicle collision involving a cyclist.
 
The investigation has revealed that an 18 year old female cyclist had been travelling eastbound on Academy Road when she was struck by a southbound vehicle.
 
As a result of the collision, the cyclist sustained injuries.
 
The driver of the vehicle remained on scene for a period of time, however left the area prior to being identified and having contact with attending officers.
 
The driver and vehicle is described as:
 
  • Male
  • Asian in appearance
  • 50 years of age
  • 6' 0" tall
  • 175 lbs.
  • Medium build
  • Wearing a baseball cap and glasses
Vehicle:
 
  • Mid 2000's Nissan Sentra or Toyota
  • Four door
  • Beige or brown in colour
  • Cracked windshield
The investigation is continuing by members of the Central Traffic Unit. Anyone with information regarding the identity of the driver and vehicle involved is asked to contact police at 204 986-6271.
