FRAUD – ARREST R12-70557 R12-18244
Between January, 2012, and February, 2012, a male suspect from the Winnipeg area defrauded two out of town victims by attempting to sell and or trade vehicles by way of an online classified advertisement.

In one instance, the suspect responded to an online classified advertisement regarding the sale of a 2004 Acura located in the Ontario area. The suspect made contact with the victim (21 year old male) and offered to trade his 2005 BMW in exchange for the Acura plus $4500.00. An agreement was made and the victim electronically forwarded $2250.00 directly to the suspect. The remaining funds were to be transferred once the vehicle was received.

The suspect did not own or have the right to sell or trade the vehicle as perceived by the victim. The vehicles never exchanged hands.

During a second instance, the suspect advertised that he had a 2005 BMW for sale in the amount of $25,000.00. The victim, a 23 year old male from the Saskatchewan area agreed to purchase the vehicle and forwarded $19,000.00 electronically directly to the suspect. Again, the victim was unaware that the suspect did not own or have the right to sell the BMW as advertised.
