HOMICIDE INVESTIGATION UPDATE     C09-273075
As previously released - On December 3rd, 2009 at approximately 6:05 p.m., a male was reported to have been stabbed near the intersection of Main Street and Euclid Avenue while waiting for a bus. 
 
This male later succumbed to his injuries and was identified as:
 
Jessie Jules Pierre MCKENZIE, 17 years
 
Further information has since revealed that the victim encountered a male suspect who was with a female. The male suspect and female appeared to be arguing, at which point the male suspect set upon the victim in an unprovoked attack and stabbed him to the upper body.
 
Homicide investigators are seeking the assistance of the public in identifying the male and the female in the photos. They are persons of interest who were in the area at the time of the incident.

AGGRAVATED ASSAULT INVESTIGATION      C12-153467
On Saturday, August 4, 2012 at approximately 3:00 a.m. members of the Winnipeg Police Service responded to the area of Fidler Avenue and Mount Royal Road regarding the report of a male being assaulted.
 
Attending officers located an injured adult male who had been physically assaulted and sustained serious injury to his upper body. The victim was transported to hospital where he remains in critical condition.
 
One male suspect involved in this incident has since been arrested for Aggravated Assault, Assault X2 and Utter Threats to Cause Death or Bodily Harm. He remains in custody.
 
Police are requesting the public's assistance in locating the second male suspect involved in this incident.
 
A Warrant of Arrest for Aggravated Assault has been issued for Dallas MCKAY, 22 years old of Winnipeg. The suspect has a sizable tattoo on his neck.
 
 

 
The investigation is continuing by members of the District 2 Crime Unit. Anyone with information regarding this incident or the whereabouts of MCKAY is asked to contact police investigators at 204-986-2842, CrimeStoppers at 204-786-TIPS (8477) or police non-emergency at 204-986-6222.
 
 
AGGRAVATED ASSAULT ARREST      C12-139264
As previously released - On July 17, 2012 at approximately 5:30 a.m. members of the Winnipeg Police Service were dispatched to the 400 block of Burrows Avenue regarding reports of a male shot.
 
Upon arrival, members located at 15 year old male suffering from an injury consistent with being shot to the lower body. The male was transported in stable condition.
 
An investigation of the incident revealed that a male suspect attended to this location and confronted the victim. The victim attempted to flee from the location at which time a shooting occurred.
 
Responding members searched the area, however the suspect was not located at that time. Members of the Major Crimes Unit entered into an investigation.
 
On Thursday, August 9, 2012 at approximately 12:55 p.m., the following male was located in the area of the 1400 block of Notre Dame Avenue. He was arrested and taken into custody. Upon his arrest he was found to have large amount of Canadian currency in his possession.
 
Jonathan Erin CATCHEWAY, 23 years old of Winnipeg has been charged with several
Firearms related offences, Aggravated Assault, Possess Proceeds of Crime, Disguise with Intent and Breach of Probation.
 
CATCHEWAY has been detained in custody.
 
 
NORTH END COMMUNITY FORUM ON ARSON
On Friday, August 10, 2012 at 6:30 p.m., the Winnipeg Police Service, in partnership with Michael Redhead Champagne of Aboriginal Youth Opportunities (AYO!) and Winnipeg City Councillors - Ross Eadie and Mike Pagtakhan, will be holding a community information forum on Arson at the Ukrainian Canadian Institute Prosvita located at 777 Pritchard Avenue.  
 
Community members are invited to meet at the North End Bell Tower at Selkirk Avenue and Powers Street at 6:00 p.m. to show their support for the local youths and members of the North End community, who meet at this location every Friday to share information and strengthen community commitment.
 
Officers and residents will then walk to the Ukrainian Institute Prosvita where information will be presented by the Winnipeg Police Service North End Community Support Unit and the Arson Strike Force.  .
 
Please use the Arlington Street entrance upon arrival at the Ukrainian Canadian Institute Prosvita. Anyone with mobility concerns is invited to proceed directly to this location.
 
The goal of this event is to update residents on various occurrences taking place in the community and provide crime prevention information specific to personal safety and how to prevent arsons in their community.
