COMMERCIAL ROBBERY – ARREST C12-170138
On August 25, 2012, at approximately 9:10 p.m., members of the Winnipeg Police Service responded to a business located in the 500 block of Selkirk Avenue regarding a robbery incident.
 
The investigation has revealed that a lone male suspect entered the business while attempting to conceal his identity by covering his face with his shirt. He confronted a 55 year old male employee and demanded cash. The situation escalated when the suspect attempted to remove the entire cash register and began physically assaulting the employee.
 
A customer within the store, a 44 year old male, observed the situation and assisted. The suspect was restrained and police were notified.
 
Members of the Major Crimes Unit continued with the investigation.
 
Stuart Norman SPENCE, 21 years has been charged with the following offences due to his alleged involvement:
 
  • Robbery with Violence
  • Disguise with Intent
  • Breach of Probation

He was detained at the Winnipeg Remand Centre.

 
 
COMMERCIAL ROBBERY C12-169664
On August 25, 2012, at approximately 6:25 a.m., District 6 uniform patrol members, including members of the Canine Unit responded to a business located in the 500 block of Dale Boulevard regarding a commercial robbery incident.
 
It has been determined that a lone male suspect entered the front desk area and confronted a 32 year old male employee. The suspect produced a canister of bear spray, pointing it at the employee while demanding cash.
 
When no money was obtained, the suspect discharged the bear spray at the employee causing significant discomfort.
 
The suspect fled empty handed and members of the WPS and WFPS were notified.
 
No arrest has been made at this time. Members of the Major Crimes Unit have been notified of the incident.

SHOTS FIRED C12-170473
On August 26, 2012, at approximately 3:45 a.m., officers responded to the 400 block of Riverton Avenue regarding shots fired.
 
Attending members observed damage to the living room and bedroom windows of the residence. No injuries were reported.
 
Investigators have learned that a party had previously taken place, resulting in an argument involving some of the partygoers. The gathering eventually concluded and the residents went to bed. A short time later, the occupants awoke to the sound of shots being fired.
 
The investigating is continuing by members of the Major Crimes Unit.
