FATAL MOTOR VEHICLE COLLISION INVOLVING A PEDESTRIAN –UPDATE C11-256942
As previously released, on December 11th, 2011, at approximately 11:10 a.m., emergency services responders were dispatched to the intersection of Portage Avenue and Maryland Street for reports of a motor vehicle collision involving a pedestrian. 
 
The investigation has revealed that a 65 year old male pedestrian was walking northbound on Maryland Street when he attempted to cross eastbound Portage Avenue and was struck by a southbound vehicle (Hyundai Elantra).  The male was transported to hospital in critical condition and has since succumbed to those injuries. 
 
Members of the Central Traffic Unit are continuing to investigate.
 
 
STABBING C11-257233
On December 11th, 2011, at approximately 9:30 p.m., members of the Winnipeg Police Service responded to a stabbing incident in the area of the 200 block of Smith Street.
 
Attending members encountered several intoxicated persons, one of whom sustained stab wounds to the upper body. The 26 year old male victim was conveyed to hospital in unstable condition however later upgraded to stable condition.
 
At this stage of the investigation, the involved parties are not forthcoming with information.
