Winnipeg Police Service News Release

Friday, December 30th, 2011 3:45 p.m.     SEXUAL EXPLOITATION- ARREST UPDATE    R11-76639 As previously released, on Wednesday, August 10th, 2011 members of the Winnipeg Police Service Child Abuse Unit entered into an investigation regarding a teenage victim who had allegedly been the victim of sexual assault by a 39 year old male.   The investigation has revealed that between May 2009 and May 2011, a number of sexual offences were committed against the victim by this male.  The victim and the male are known to each other through organized activities.   During the afternoon hours of Thursday, August 11th, 2011 a search warrant was executed at a residence in the area of Niakwa Road and St. Anne's Road where a suspect male was arrested without incident.    Stuart Garrett YOUNG, 39 years, of Winnipeg had been charged with sexual exploitation and sexual assault.   On December 29th, 2011 as a result of the continued investigation led by members of the Child Abuse Unit, Stuart Garrett YOUNG turned himself into police at the Public Safety Building.  YOUNG will be facing the following additional charges for his alleged involvement:   -          Sexual assault X2 -          Voyeurism -          Sexual exploitation and -          Fail to comply with conditions of an undertaking      He has been detained in custody at the Winnipeg Remand Centre.    This investigation is ongoing and therefore no further information will be provided.   For further information contact either: Constable Natalie Aitken, Public Information Officer Constable Jason Michalyshen, Public Information Officer Office: (204)986-3061 Fax: (204) 986-3267 Email: WPS-PIO@Winnipeg.ca   Web: www.winnipeg.ca/Police
