Monday, December 19th, 2011 8:10 a.m. MOTOR VEHICLE COLLISION- ROAD CLOSURE UPDATE C11-262262 As previously released, on December 19th, 2011 just before 7:00 a.m. emergency services responders were dispatched to the area of Portage Avenue and Strathcona Street for reports of a motor vehicle collision. Two individuals have been transported to the hospital in stable condition. During the investigation officers located a suspicious package within one of the vehicles involved in the collision. Winnipeg Police Service Bomb Unit members will be attending to assist. As a result the following road closures are now in effect: - All westbound lanes on Portage Avenue at Valour Road - All eastbound lanes on Portage Avenue at Empress Street. Emergency personnel are expected to remain on scene for several hours. Motorists are requested to avoid the area and choose an alternate route.
