Friday, December 16th, 2011 WPS CANINE UNIT 2012 CALENDAR The Winnipeg Police Service and the Winnipeg Police Association proudly announce the launch of the 2012 Winnipeg Police Canine Calendar. The calendar features the dedicated Police Service Dogs of the Winnipeg Police Canine Unit. The Winnipeg Police Service Canine Unit is comprised of 10 handlers and 12 Police Service Dogs. The Police Service Dogs are trained in tracking, criminal apprehension, obedience, evidence recovery, narcotic and explosive detection. The Police Service Dogs are responsible for hundreds of arrests each year. The cost of the calendar is $15.00 with all proceeds going towards the Winnipeg Humane Society. Calendars are available at all Petland locations, Winnipeg Police Service Centres, the Winnipeg Humane Society and Monart. Thank-you for your support! DRUG ARREST C11-259960 On December 15th, 2011, at approximately 11:20 p.m., members of the Winnipeg Police Service Missing Persons Unit with the assistance of the Manitoba Integrated Warrant Apprehension Unit, acting under our high risk victim protocol, entered into an investigation and attended to the Winnipeg James Armstrong Richardson International Airport regarding a wanted male. Attending members located the male who had just arrived from the Vancouver area. The male was placed under arrest on the strength of the warrant and taken into custody. A search of the male's belongings revealed the following:

He was detained. SUSPICIOUS MALE C11-259140 On December 14th, 2011, at approximately 5:00 p.m., uniform members responded to the area of George Marshall Way regarding the report of a suspicious male. Officers learned that three females between the ages of 10-12 years of age had observed a lone male in a vehicle travelling in the area of McMeans Avenue and Kildare Avenue. The suspect was noted circling the area several times eventually stopping and exiting his vehicle. The male then began walking toward the girls at which time they fled and notified an adult. The suspect vehicle is described as: a newer burgundy 4x4, ½ ton truck. The suspect male is described as: Caucasian, short in height, chubby build, with puffy brown/grey hair and a short grey beard. He was observed wearing: a red baseball cap with black trim, red jacket and black sweat pants. The investigation is continuing by members of the East District Crime Unit.
