Winnipeg Police Service News Release:

EXTORTION – ARREST R11-104582 R11-124492
Between September 5 and September 12, 2011, using an alias, a 32 year old male resident of Winnipeg communicated through a social network dating service with two females (28 years & 36 years) from England.
 
As a result of their cyber-relationship, the suspect male gained the confidence of both victims where online chatting and videos were shared. It was at this time the suspect threatened to distribute the videos online, specifically to family and friends of the females if money was not forwarded to him.
 
The victim's made police reports to their respective Police Services who in turn, through Interpol, contacted the Winnipeg Police Service.
 
Due to the investigative efforts of members of the District 3 Crime Unit, a 32 year old male resident of Winnipeg was identified.
 
On December 21, 2011 at approximately 9:10 a.m., District 3 Crime Unit members arrested the male at his residence. He is facing the following charges:
 
·        Extortion by Libel – to extort money x 2
 
He was released on a Promise to Appear.
 
 
COMMERCIAL ROBBERY – ARREST R11-89464
On September 15, 2011, at approximately 10:45 p.m., a business located in the 1100 block of Main Street was robbed of an undisclosed amount of cash by an armed male. No one was injured and the suspect made good his escape.
 
On September 16, 2011, at approximately 2:45 a.m., a convenience store located in the 1300 block of Main Street was subject to an armed robbery. An undisclosed amount of cash was taken and the suspect fled the area.    
 
At approximately 10:05 p.m., the male re-attended to the same business located in the 1100 block of Main Street. While armed, money was demanded and an undisclosed amount was obtained. Again, the suspect fled the area.
 
As a result of the ongoing investigation, the suspect male was identified however he had not yet been located.
 
On December 21, 2011, Devon Grant FALLOON, 20 years attended to the District 3 Station at which time he was charged with Robbery with a Weapon x 3 due to his alleged involvement.
 
He was detained at the Provincial Remand Centre.
