***Please note correction in blue*** Thursday, May 12, 2011 WINNIPEG POLICE SERVICE AWARDS DAY On Friday, May 13th, 2011, at 1:00 p.m., the Winnipeg Police Service will honour staff and police members for their dedication to duty and their exemplary service at the Annual Awards Day Ceremony at the Immanuel Pentecostal Church located at 955 Wilkes Avenue.   Members have gone beyond the call of duty throughout the year and will be recognized for their extraordinary achievements.  Other members will be recognized for their exemplary service and dedication.  This includes civilian members who provide essential support to the Service on a daily basis and whose contribution to the Service is vital to the efficient operation of our organization.   The following awards will be presented at the ceremony:  30 Year Police Exemplary Service Bars: 17 eligible police members   20 Year Police Exemplary Service Medals: 41 eligible police members    25 Year City of Winnipeg Service Pin: 4 eligible police members 9 eligible civilian members   Staff Exemplary Service Awards: 10 eligible civilian members   Certificates of Commendation: 28 eligible police members 2 eligible civilian members   As well, one police member will receive the James Toal Award of Excellence.   The Winnipeg Police Service congratulates all members who received awards for their achievements.  Members of the public and the media are invited to attend the ceremony.   For further information contact either: Constable Natalie Aitken, Public Information Officer Constable Jason Michalyshen, Public Information Officer Office: (204)986-3061 Fax: (204) 986-3267 Email: WPS-PIO@Winnipeg.ca   Web: www.winnipeg.ca/Police
