Winnipeg Police Service News Release:

 

  Wednesday, May 4th, 2011 

 
STURGEON CREEK RECOVERY EFFORTS C11-88289
On May, 3rd, 2011 at approximately 2:45 p.m., emergency personnel responded to the area of Portage Avenue and Woodhaven Boulevard regarding a male in Sturgeon Creek who was observed to be in distress.
 
Witness information has revealed that a male, 16-17 years of age, entered the water west of the Woodhaven Bridge and was last seen in the creek, east of this location.
 
As a result, members of the Winnipeg Police Service Dive Unit commenced underwater search efforts early this morning.
 
The male observed in the creek is described as having: a dark complexion, short black hair and wearing a red jacket. A red backpack and its contents were recovered in the area where the male was last seen.
 
Investigators have since located two photographs from within the backpack and are now requesting the public's assistance in identifying the following individuals:
 
 
                
 
 
Anyone with information regarding the identity of the individuals shown above is requested to call police immediately at 986-2841 or 986-6222.
