Winnipeg Police Service News Release:

Wednesday, May 4th, 2011    STURGEON CREEK RECOVERY EFFORTS C11-88289 On May, 3rd, 2011 at approximately 2:45 p.m., emergency personnel responded to the area of Portage Avenue and Woodhaven Boulevard regarding a male in Sturgeon Creek who was observed to be in distress.   Witness information has revealed that a male, 16-17 years of age, entered the water west of the Woodhaven Bridge and was last seen in the creek, east of this location.   As a result, members of the Winnipeg Police Service Dive Unit commenced underwater search efforts early this morning.   The male observed in the creek is described as having: a dark complexion, short black hair and wearing a red jacket.
