Winnipeg Police Service News Release

 

  Sunday, May 8th, 2011

MALE SHOT                                          C11-92242
On Saturday, May 7th, 2011 at approximately 10:50 p.m. Winnipeg Police Service Uniform Members responded to a residence within the 500 block of Dufferin Avenue for a report of a male that had been shot. 
 
Upon arrival officers located a 21 year old male victim suffering from an upper body injury.  Paramedics attended and transported the victim to the hospital in unstable condition. He has since been upgraded to stable condition.   
 
Officers have learned that a suspect male had attended to the residence and knocked on the door.  When the occupant opened the door a firearm discharge occurred striking the victim in the upper body. 
 
The suspect is described as: 

Male, Aboriginal in appearance, approximately 20 years, 5'10"- 5'11" tall, a bald head and clean shaven.  He was wearing dark coloured clothing.  
 
This investigation is continuing by members of the Major Crimes Unit and anyone who may have information regarding this incident is asked to call 986-6219 or CrimeStoppers at 786-TIPS (8477).
 
 
ASSAULT WITH WEAPON                     C11-92022
On Saturday, May 7th, 2011 just before 6:00 p.m. Winnipeg Police Service Members responded to the Forks Market for a report of a motor vehicle collision involving pedestrians and a number of vehicles that had occurred within a parking lot. 
 
Upon arrival, officers as well as Emergency Services Responders located three persons who had sustained injuries as a result of being struck by a vehicle.  Paramedics treated all parties on scene for minor lower body injuries.
 
Officers also observed three vehicles that had sustained minor damages and learned that a male and a female had fled to this vehicle from a nearby restaurant, after failing to pay their bill.   Patrolling security officers attempted to stop this vehicle and the occupants, when the driver placed the car into gear in an attempt to flee the scene. 
 
This suspect vehicle subsequently collided with the pedestrians and three separate vehicles in the parking lot prior to fleeing the scene towards Main Street. 
 
The suspect vehicle is described as:
 
- Late model, 4-door, blue Kia Spectra with damage to the drivers' side window and possible damage to both the front and rear bumper area
 
The suspects are described as:
 
Suspect #1:  Male, Caucasian, mid 30's, approximately 5'8" tall with a skinny build, and light coloured hair. He was wearing a hat and a long sleeve shirt.
 
Suspect #2: Female, Aboriginal in appearance, early 20's, 5'6" tall with a skinny build and dark hair in pony tail. 
 
This investigation is continuing by members of Division 11 Crime Unit and anyone who may have information is asked to contact investigators at 986-6668 or CrimeStoppers at 786-TIPS (8477).
