SEXUAL ASSAULT C11-85831
On March 30, 2011, at approximately 9:15 a.m., uniform members were dispatched to attend a local hospital regarding the report of a sexual assault which had occurred several hours earlier.

Attending members spoke with a 27 year old female victim who indicated that she had been walking with a friend in the rear lane of the 900 block of Jubilee Avenue at approximately 12:45 a.m., when she heard the sounds of someone riding a bike in the area.

Moments later, the victim felt someone place their hands on her waist and push her to the ground. The suspect proceeded to pull at the victim's jacket and sexually assault her to the lower body.

The victim began yelling out and the suspect fled the area on his bike in the direction of Pembina Highway.

The victim made her way home and subsequently notified police.

The suspect is described as: Male, Caucasian, 20-30 years of age, 5'5"-5'7" in height, slim to medium build, short blonde hair, wearing: a blue sweater or jacket, white or grey baseball cap, riding a blue or black coloured bike.

The investigation is continuing by members of the Sex Crimes Unit. Anyone with information regarding the incident is asked to contact police at 986-6245 or CrimeStoppers at 786-TIPS (8477).

ELECTRONIC CONTROL DEVICE CARTRIDGE LOST 11-86511
Sometime overnight on Saturday, April 30th to Sunday, May 1st, 2011, a cartridge for a Taser™ electronic control device became dislodged from a uniform patrol member while on duty in Division 13 (Northwest Winnipeg).

The electronic control device unit itself was not lost.  This cartridge contains probes on wires which extend when the device is discharged.  Efforts are ongoing to locate the cartridge.

The Winnipeg Police Service would like to advise that the cartridge could pose a risk of harm to the public.  If the cartridge was to be picked up by an unsuspecting person and carried in a pocket, a build-up of static energy could activate the cartridge, causing the probes to be propelled.

The Winnipeg Police Service would like to take this opportunity to advise the public to contact police immediately if the cartridge is located.
