Wednesday, May 18, 2011 HOMICIDE UPDATE C11-97317 As previously released, on May 14th, 2011 shortly before noon, Winnipeg Police Service Uniform Members responded to a residence within the 1000 block of Edderton Avenue for a report of a suspicious death. Upon arrival officers located an adult female deceased within the home. The victim has been identified as Gina SWANSON, 33 years. The investigation has revealed that SWANSON was physically assaulted to the upper body and succumbed to injuries sustained. The Winnipeg Police Service Homicide Unit is requesting the public's assistance in identifying any suspicious person(s), vehicle and or activity in the areas of the 1000 block of Edderton Avenue and the 1300 block of Pembina Highway (Financial Institution) on Saturday, May 14th, 2011 between 5:00 a.m. and 8:00 a.m. This investigation is continuing by members of the Homicide Unit and anyone who may have information regarding this investigation is asked to contact them at 986-6508 or CrimeStoppers at 786-TIPS (8477). STABBING C11-100299 On May 18th, 2011 at approximately 3:15 a.m., officers responded to a stabbing incident at a residence in the area of the 500 block of Mountain Avenue. Attending members located an injured 25 year old male suffering from upper body injuries consistent with being stabbed. He was conveyed to hospital in unstable condition, but has since been stabilized. The investigation is continuing by members of the District 3 Crime Unit where several individuals are being interviewed.
