Wednesday, August 21, 2013


WEAPON AND DRUG – ARRESTS C13-166331
On August 19, 2013 at approximately 3:30 p.m., members of the Division 11 Community Support Unit along with NWEST (National Weapons Enforcement Support Team), TST (Tactical Support Team), Canine Unit and the Division 11 Crime Unit, executed a warrant at a residence located in the 100 block of Plaza Drive.
 
Due to the efforts of all members involved a male and female were arrested in the area and taken into custody.
 
A search of the residence resulted in the seizure of the following items:
 
9mm handgun
2 x loaded magazines
Over 40 rounds of ammunition
Expandable baton
Hatchet
$1000.00 Canadian currency
Prescription drugs
3 grams of Marihuana
Traces of Cocaine
 
Daniela CONCI, 31 years of Winnipeg has been charged with the following due to her alleged involvement: Possession of Prohibited or Restricted Firearm/ammunition, Possession of Weapon for Dangerous Purpose x 3, Possession of Weapon Obtained by Crime, Breach of Firearms Regulation x 2, Possessing Controlled Drug or Substance x 2, Possessing Substance for Purposes of Trafficking, Possess Proceeds of Crime and Unauthorized Possession of Firearm.
 
A 36 year old male from Winnipeg  has been charged with the following due to his alleged involvement: Possession of Prohibited or Restricted Firearm/ammunition, Possession of Weapon for Dangerous Purpose x 3, Possession of Weapon Obtained by Crime, Breach of Firearms Regulation x 2, Possessing Controlled Drug or Substance x 2, Possessing Substance for Purposes of Trafficking, Possess Proceeds of Crime, Possession of Firearm while Prohibited x 2 and Knowledge of Unauthorized Possession of Firearm.
 
Both were detained.
 
 
DRUG INVESTIGATION – ARRESTS C13-165167
On August 16, 2013 members of the Winnipeg Police Service Street Crime Unit became involved in a drug investigation.
 
As a result, officers obtained a Controlled Drug and Substance Act search warrant for a residence located in the 700 block of Warsaw Avenue.
 
On August 18, 2013 at approximately 8:15 p.m., officers observed a male and female involved while in the area of Warsaw Avenue. It was at this time both suspects attempted to flee the area on foot. Both were apprehended after a brief foot pursuit a short distance away.
 
The warrant was executed at approximately 9:30 p.m. resulting in the following items being located and seized:
 
Over 47 grams of Methamphetamine – estimated street value over $14,000.00
Stun gun
Ballistic vest
 
Jeanette WAWRZYNIAK, 31 years and Dale HIEBERT, 30 years have been charged with numerous weapon and drug related offenses due to their alleged involvement.
 
Both were detained.
 

COMMERCIAL ROBBERY ARREST – C13-167536
On Wednesday, August 21, 2013 shortly before 2:00 a.m. members of the Winnipeg Police Service were dispatched to a gas bar in the 700 block of Keewatin Street for the report of a commercial robbery.
 
Responding members met with an employee who advised that an unknown male had attended to the counter, indicated that he had a weapon then demanded money.  The clerk refused to comply with the suspect's demand and the male subsequently fled in a vehicle.
 
While officers were still on scene the suspect returned to apologize to the clerk at which time he was taken into custody without incident.
 
A 44 year old male from Winnipeg has been charged with Robbery and was detained at the Provincial Remand Centre.
