COMMERCIAL ROBBERY – ARRESTS C13-166142
On August 18, 2013 during the evening hours, a Chevrolet Astro Van was stolen from the area of the 400 block of Victor Street.
 
On August 19, 2013 shortly after midnight, three male suspects were present in the previously stolen vehicle and attended to the area of Keenleyside Street and Kisil Bay.
 
Two of the suspects exited the vehicle and attended to a nearby convenient store while concealing their identities and armed with a loaded shotgun.
 
The suspects proceeded into the store and confronted two employees. Demands were made and the suspects fled the business with an undisclosed amount of cash and cigarettes.
 
East District Patrol members observed the suspects fleeing on foot toward the parked stolen vehicle. Due to their efforts, all three suspects were taken into custody.
 
All of the stolen property was recovered including the shotgun used during the incident.
 
The investigation continued by members of the Major Crimes Unit.
 
A 16 year-old male, 22 year-old Jerry GENAILLE and 33 year-old Lanny POTVIN have been charged with numerous offences, some of which include: Robbery with a restricted firearm, Possess Weapon for Dangerous Purpose and Possess Goods Obtained by Crime.
 
All three were detained.   
 
 
COMMERCIAL ROBBERY C13-165557
On August 18, 2013 at approximately 2:45 a.m., officers patrolling in the area of Isabel Street and Logan Avenue were flagged down by two male victims involved in a commercial robbery incident at a nearby business.
 
The investigation has revealed that two suspects entered the store and confronted both employees. One of the victims was physically assaulted, causing injuries.
 
The suspects fled empty handed.
 
The suspects are described as:
 
1 – Male, Aboriginal in appearance, 25 years, 6'00" tall, skinny build, short black hair, wearing a bandana over his face and dark clothing. The suspect was in possession of a knife at the time of the incident.
 
2- Male, Aboriginal in appearance, 20-25 years, 5'8" tall, skinny build wearing a bandana over his face.
 
The investigation is continuing by members of the Major Crimes Unit. Anyone with information regarding this matter is asked to contact investigators at 204-986-6219 or CrimeStoppers at 204-786-TIPS (8477).
