SEXUAL ASSAULTS ARREST – C13-164789
On Monday, June 24, 2013 the Manitoba Integrated High Risk Sex Offender Unit requested the public's assistance in locating 41 year-old Casey Clinton DUMAS who was wanted for sexual assault and for failing to comply with conditions of his Probation Order.
 
On Saturday, August 17, 2013 members of the Winnipeg Police Service responded to the report of a Sexual Assault that had occurred during the early hours in the 100 block of River Avenue involving a 15 year old female.
 
It was learned that the unknown suspect had been invited into the home as he had no place to stay.  Once the family was asleep, the suspect attended to the victim's room where he sexually assaulted her.  The victim was able to alert family members who intervened.  The suspect then fled the residence.
 
The investigation continued by members of the Sex Crimes unit.
 
On August 18, 2013 police came into contact with DUMAS on an unrelated matter at which time the outstanding warrant came to light.  He was arrested and detained at the Provincial Remand Centre.
 
The investigation by Sex Crime unit members identified DUMAS as being allegedly responsible for the August 17 incident.
 
An arrest warrant was issued and on August 21, 2013 members attended to the Provincial Remand Centre and arrested DUMAS on the strength of the warrant.
 
DUMAS has been charged with Sexual Assault with a Weapon, Utter Threat to Cause Death or Bodily Harm, Overcoming Resistance to Commit Indictable Offence, Sexual Interference & Breach of Probation x 4.
 
He was returned to the Provincial Remand Centre.
 
 
SEXUAL ASSAULT ARREST – C13-160286
As previously released, on July 9, 2013, the Winnipeg Police Service received the report of a sexual assault incident that occurred in the area of the 500 block of Pandora Avenue West at approximately 10:20 p.m., involving a 36 year old female victim.     
 
It had been determined that the victim was jogging in the area when an unknown male groped her from behind and attempted to remove an article of her clothing.
 
The victim yelled at the male at which time he fled the area. The victim was not injured.
 
The investigation continued by members of the East District Crime Unit.
 
On Sunday, August 11, 2013 at approximately 3:45 p.m. a 14 year old female was walking on a path in the 1400 block of Regent Avenue West.  An unknown male confronted the victim and when she attempted to flee, she fell at which time the suspect sexually assaulted her. 
 
The victim managed to break free and the suspect subsequently fled.  The victim sustained minor injuries.
 
Continuing investigation by the East District Crime unit identified a suspect and it is alleged that he is responsible for both sexual assaults.
 
On Wednesday, August 21, 2013 the suspect was located and arrested without incident.
 
A 20 year old male from Winnipeg has been charged with Sexual Assault x 2, one for each incident.  He was released on a Promise to Appear.
 
 
RESIDENTIAL FIRE – C13-168350
On Thursday, August 22, 2013 at 2:00 a.m. Winnipeg Police Service members were dispatched to the 700 block of Pritchard Avenue for the report of a residential fire.
 
Attending officers arrived to find that the fire involving a detached garage had been extinguished by Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Services members.  No injuries were reported.
 
Damage to the garage and contents is estimated at $40,000.00.
 
Damage to properties on either side of the garage and a hydro pole is estimated at $8,500.00.
 
The cause of the fire has been determined to be arson.

RESIDENTIAL FIRE – C13-168365
On Thursday, August 22, 2013 at approximately 2:30 a.m. members of the Winnipeg Police Service were dispatched to the 800 block of Pritchard Avenue for the report of a residential fire.
 
Attending officers arrived to find members of the Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Services extinguishing a house fire.  No injuries were reported.
 
Damage to house and property is estimated at $150,000.00.
 
The cause of the fire has been determined to be arson.
 
The investigation is continuing by members of the Arson Strike Force.  Anyone with information regarding this incident or the identity of the suspect(s) is asked to contact investigators at (204) 986-6813 or CrimeStoppers at (204) 786-TIPS (8477).
 
 
RESIDENTIAL FIRE – C13-168372
On Thursday, August 22, 2013 at approximately 2:45 a.m. Winnipeg Police Service members were dispatched to the 900 block of Manitoba Avenue for the report of a fire.
 
Attending officers arrived to find that members of the Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Services had extinguished a fire involving the rear fence.  No injuries were reported.
 
Damage is estimated at $2,000.00.
 
The cause of the fire has yet to be determined.
 
The investigation is continuing by members of the Arson Strike Force.  Anyone with information regarding this incident or the identity of the suspect(s) is asked to contact investigators at (204) 986-6813 or CrimeStoppers at (204) 786-TIPS (8477).
 
 
RESIDENTIAL FIRE – C13-168373
On Thursday, August 22, 2013 shortly before 3:00 a.m. members of the Winnipeg Police Service were dispatched to the 800 block of Alfred Avenue for the report of a fire.
 
Attending officers learned that Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Services members had extinguished a fire involving a couch in the back lane.  No injuries were reported.
 
No damage estimate is available at this time.
 
The cause of the fire has yet to be determined.
