FRAUDULENT TELEPHONE SOLICITATIONS
The Winnipeg Police Service would like to make the public aware of fraudulent telephone solicitations that are being made on behalf of the Winnipeg Police or the Winnipeg Police Association.

The Winnipeg Police Service has received reports from local businesses who have received telephone calls from individuals identifying themselves as being associated to the Winnipeg Police Service or the Winnipeg Police Association.  During the telephone call a request is made for the business to buy advertising space in an upcoming magazine or publication.

The Winnipeg Police Service would like to remind businesses and individuals that if you receive a telephone call requesting money to support a local charity or a not-for-profit agency to ask for the information to be sent to you in writing. Legitimate charities and organizations will have no problem giving you this information and they do not request credit card or personal information over the phone.

For further information on how to protect yourself or your business from fraud, please visit the Canadian Anti-Fraud Centre's website at;
