FATAL MOTOR VEHICLE COLLISION ARREST – C13-170421
On Saturday, August 24, 2013 shortly after 5:00 p.m. emergency personnel responded to the area of McPhillips Street and William Avenue for the report of a motor vehicle collision that had just occurred.
 
Attending members arrived to find that 7 vehicles were involved in the collision.  Several people were transported to hospital with varying degrees of injury.  The driver of one of the vehicles, a 71 year old female later succumbed to her injuries.
 
Preliminary investigation has revealed that a Ford Ranger was travelling northbound on McPhillips Street in the curb lane at a high rate of speed when it struck a Honda Ridgeline that had been making an east bound turn onto William Avenue from southbound McPhillips.  The Ranger then struck a Chevrolet Cobalt being driven by the 71 year old female after which the Ranger struck a Honda Civic.  In all, seven vehicles were damaged in the collision.
 
The driver of the Ford Ranger was arrested at the scene.
 
Adam Quinn LANGAN 29 years of Winnipeg has been charged with:

  • Impaired Driving Cause Death – Motor Vehicle
  • Impaired Driving Cause Bodily Harm – Motor Vehicle x 2
  • Refuse Breath or Drug Evaluation Cause Death
  • Refuse Breath or Drug Evaluation Cause Bodily Harm x 2

He has been detained at the Provincial Remand Centre.
 
The investigation is continuing by members of the Central Traffic Unit.  Anyone with information regarding this incident who has not yet spoken with Police is asked to contact investigators at (204) 986-6271or Crime Stoppers at (204) 786-TIPS (8477).
