FIREARM AND DRUG INVESTIGATION – ARRESTS

On January 11, 2012, just after midnight, members of the Winnipeg Police Service Street Crimes Unit, with the assistance of the Tactical Support Team, including other WPS personnel, attended to a residence located in the 100 block of Lorne Avenue for the purpose of executing a search warrant.
 
After a period of time, several people were removed from the residence. An eventual search of the home revealed that firearms and drugs were present. These items have since been seized and four adult males are now facing charges.
 
The investigation is continuing.
 
 
ROBBERY WITH A WEAPON – ARREST C12-5848
On January 10, 2012, at approximately 12:55 p.m., members of the Winnipeg Police Service responded to the area of Selkirk Avenue and Andrews Street regarding a robbery incident.
 
The investigation has revealed that a 19 year old male victim was approached by a male suspect who requested a cigarette. After being refused, the suspect produced a large knife and assaulted the victim to the upper body.
 
The suspect robbed the victim of a package of cigarettes and was chased off by a nearby witness.
 
The victim was conveyed to hospital, treated and released.
 
Due to the efforts of Uniform Patrol Members and the Tactical Support Team, the suspect was located and arrested at a residence in the area of Flora Avenue and Powers Street at approximately 1:15 p.m.
 
Members of the District 3 Crime Unit continued with the investigation. Officers have since recovered the knife believed to have been used during the robbery.
 
A 14 year old male has been charged with the following:
 
·        Robbery with Weapon
·        Possession of Weapon for dangerous Purpose
·        Carrying Concealed Weapon
·        Failure to Comply with Sentence x 2
·        Fail to Comply with Condition Undertaking
 
He was detained.
