ROBBERY WITH A WEAPON – ARRESTS C12-6893
On January 12, 2012, at approximately 3:00 a.m., officers responded to the area of Ellice Avenue and Maryland Street regarding a robbery incident.
 
It has been determined that a 44 year old male victim was confronted by three suspects, physically assaulted and struck about the body with a baseball bat. The victim relinquished an undisclosed amount of cash.
 
It was at this time the suspects led the now injured victim to a nearby convenience store where he was forced to purchase cigarettes. Due to the victim's noticeable injuries, the clerk contacted emergency services and all three suspects fled the area.
 
The victim was conveyed to hospital for multiple injuries. 
 
At approximately 3:40 a.m., a 23 year old male suspect was located in the area of the 400 block of Victor Street and arrested.
 
After being involved in two additional incidents where vehicles were damaged and broken into, officers located and arrested two16 year old males in the area of Ellice Avenue and Young Street.
 
The investigation continued by members of the Division 11 Crime Unit.
 
Justin Mark HALL, 23 years has been charged with: Robbery with a Weapon and detained.
 
Two 16 year old males have been charged with: Robbery with a Weapon, Mischief Under $5000.00 x 2, including several Fail to Comply with Sentence.
 
They were also detained.
 
 
STRONG-ARM ROBBERY C12-7242
On January 12, 2012, at approximately 4:25 p.m., numerous police resources responded to the area of Sargent Avenue and Simcoe Street regarding reports of a gunshot incident.
 
Initially, information provided suggested that a male victim had been shot and several suspects were observed fleeing the area.
 
Attending members located a 17 year old male victim, at which time it was confirmed that the victim was not shot, however struck by a vehicle.
 
The investigation has revealed that the victim was confronted by several suspects when one of them grabbed him from behind attempting to take his backpack. An altercation occurred resulting in the victim being pushed onto the roadway and struck by an eastbound vehicle (Red Chevrolet Cavalier). The suspects fled the area.
 
The victim was conveyed to hospital in unstable condition, but has since been upgraded to stable condition.
 
The victim's property has been recovered however no arrests have been made at this time.  
 
The investigation is continuing by members of the Division 11 Crime Unit. Anyone with information regarding this matter is asked to contact police at 986-6668 or CrimeStoppers at 786-TIPS (8477).
