Thursday, January 12, 2012 FIREARM AND DRUG – ARRESTS - UPDATE C12-6191 As previously released, on January 11, 2012, just after midnight, members of the Winnipeg Police Service Street Crimes Unit, with the assistance of the Tactical Support Team, including other WPS personnel, attended to a residence located in the 100 block of Lorne Avenue for the purpose of executing a search warrant. After a period of time, several people were removed from the residence. An eventual search of the home revealed that firearms and drugs were present. The following items were seized by officers: · Sawed off rifle · Shotgun · Pellet pistol · Laptop computer · 50 grams powder cocaine – estimated street value $4000.00 · ½ kilogram of benzocaine – estimated street value $200.00 · Drug packaging material · Cash The following males have been arrested and charged: · Anthony Robert COTE – 22 years · Nathan Thomas Anthony SETTEE – 22 years · Brandon Lee MCKAY – 18 years · Daniel Wesley STEVENSON – 19 years They have been charged with numerous weapon and drug related offences. All fours male have been detained. STOLEN VEHICLE INCIDENT – C12-6650 On January 11, 2012, at approximately 5:15 p.m., members of the Winnipeg Police Service responded to the first 100 block of Park Place East regarding a stolen vehicle incident. The investigation has revealed that at approximately 5:00 p.m., a 40 year old female attended to the previously mentioned location for the purpose of picking up her daughter. Upon arrival, the victim exited her vehicle, leaving the keys in the ignition and her young son in the rear seat and attended to the front door of the residence. It was at this time she turned to observe a male suspect operating her 2011 Acura MDX driving away at a high rate of speed with her son still in the vehicle. The victim gave chase on foot for a short distance, but returned to the residence where police were notified. The vehicle was located abandoned in the area of the 700 block of Park Boulevard South. It was also learned that the young child was located unharmed by an area resident. A short time later, the mother and son were reunited. A purse and its content were stolen from within the vehicle by the suspect. The suspect is described as: Male, Caucasian, 20 years, dark short hair, wearing dark clothing. The suspect was observed as a passenger in a red/burgundy Sport Utility Vehicle prior to the incident occurring. No one was injured as a result of the incident. The investigation is continuing by members of the District 6 Crime Unit.
