Monday, March 21, 2011 TRAFFIC PURSUIT ARREST C11-55069 On March 20, 2011 at approximately 7:30 pm members of the Winnipeg Police Service were patrolling in the area of Springfield Road and Molson Street when they observed a suspicious vehicle with no licence plates. Police attempted to stop this vehicle, at which time the driver fled recklessly from police at a high rate of speed, at times in excess of 150km/hour in a 100km/zone. Police aborted the pursuit for safety concerns, however were able to locate the vehicle a short distance way. The suspect had abandoned the vehicle and fled on foot to a nearby scrap yard. Due to diligent efforts of the Winnipeg Police Service members and the Canine Unit, the suspect was located within the compound and arrested in the 1100 block of Redonda Street. Matthew Albert John Moore, 29 years of Winnipeg has been charged with the following offences for his alleged involvement: · Flight from police officer · Dangerous Operation of Motor Vehicle · Drive Disqualified · Possessing Controlled Drug or Substance · Fail to Comply with Condition of Recognizance He has been detained at the Provincial Remand Centre.
