Winnipeg Police Service News Release:

HOMICIDE C11-52151
On March 16, 2011 at approximately 9:10 p.m., members of the Winnipeg Police Service responded to the rear of Portage Avenue and Vaughn Street regarding a stabbing incident.
 
It has been determined that a19 year old male and 22 year old male victim were confronted by an armed suspect. It was at this time both victims were stabbed to the upper body.
 
Abdul Rahim Mah JEMEI 22 years was conveyed to hospital in critical condition but has since succumbed to injuries sustained. The 19 year old victim was treated and released from hospital.
 
Members of the Homicide Unit continue to investigate.

BREAK AND ENTER INVESTIGATION – ARRESTS C11-52265
On March 17, 2011 at approximately 1:55 a.m., Uniform members responded to a possible break and enter in progress at a residence in the 400 block of Locksley Bay.
 
Attending members discovered that three suspects had since fled the area in a vehicle belonging to the residence. A short time later, a member of the Canine Unit observed the suspect vehicle travelling in the area of Gateway Road and Union Avenue East. It was at this time the suspects abandoned the vehicle and fled the area on foot. The suspects were subsequently tracked to a residence in the 600 block of Harbison Avenue East and taken in custody.
 
The stolen vehicle and property was recovered at that time.
 
Officers examined the scene of the break and enter further and discovered a 78 year old male deceased within the home.
 
The cause of death has not yet been determined pending autopsy results.
 
Two 15 year old males and one 16 year old male remain in police custody and are facing charges.
 
 
PUBLIC MISCHIEF – ARREST C11-48801
On Monday, March 14, 2011, information was released regarding a robbery incident which occurred on Friday, March 11, 2011 at approximately 11:00 p.m., in the area of Dale Boulevard and Roblin Boulevard.
 
At that time, a 19 year old male victim contacted police claiming that he and a 17 year old female victim had been robbed of their property. He also indicated that after being robbed, the 17 year old female left in the company of the robbery suspects. Since becoming involved in a lengthy investigation, Officers have been unable to make contact with the female victim.
 
As a result of the efforts made by Uniform members and the District 6 Crime Unit, it has been determined that the 19 year old male fabricated the robbery incident involving the 17 year old female victim. 
 
Tyler John LOFTUS, 19 years has been charged with Public Mischief regarding his alleged involvement.
 
He remains in custody.
