Winnipeg Police Service News Release

 

SATURDAY, MARCH 19th, 2011  

 
SEXUAL ASSAULT INVESTIGATION         C11-53890
On Saturday, March 19th, 2011 at approximately 6:25 a.m., a 34 year old female victim was waiting for the bus near the intersection of Louleda Street and Concordia Avenue, when she was approached by an unknown male suspect. 
 
The suspect male demanded a sexual act and when the victim refused, she was struck about the upper body with a bottle.  The suspect continued the assault by choking the victim and knocking her to the ground.  The victim was able to break free and fled the area contacting police.
 
The victim was treated in hospital for injuries that she sustained during this incident. 
 
The suspect male, who was wearing a grey hoodie at the time, is described as being;
 
-          Aboriginal in appearance, approximately 20 years old, 6'0" tall and weighing approximately 250 pounds 
 
The investigation has revealed that during the assault, when passing motorists would approach, the suspect male would act as if he was offering assistance to the victim.
 
Investigators are asking anyone who may have been in the area and witnessed this assault, or anyone who has any information regarding the suspect to contact the East District Crime Unit at 986-2857 or CrimeStoppers at 786-TIPS (8477).
