Winnipeg Police Service News Release

Wednesday, March 9th, 2011 4:30 p.m.     SERIOUS SEXUAL ASSAULT               C11-46815 On Wednesday, March 9th, 2011 shortly after 4:00 a.m., a 23 year old female was walking northbound on Juno Street from Bannatyne Avenue, when an unknown male came up from behind her and pulled into the rear lane parking lot.  The suspect male proceeded to strike her about her upper body and then proceeded to commit a serious sexual assault.     The suspect then fled the scene however he was observed to stop and speak with an individual that was parked in an older model red car, on Juno Street.    The suspect male is described as;   - Aboriginal in appearance, 5'7" tall with a medium to thin build   The suspect was wearing a waist length thin winter jacket, with blue jeans and a multi-coloured wool hat.    The suspect was also seen to be carrying what appeared to be a white pizza box.    Investigators are requesting that the individual who was in the parked vehicle who spoke with the suspect, or anyone else who may have any information regarding this incident, to contact them at 986-6245 or CrimeStoppers at 786-TIPS (8477).     For further information contact either: Constable Natalie Aitken, Public Information Officer Constable Jason Michalyshen, Public Information Officer Office: (204)986-3061 Fax: (204) 986-3267 Email: WPS-PIO@Winnipeg.ca   Web: www.winnipeg.ca/Police
