FRIDAY, MARCH 18th, 2011

ASSAULT WITH A WEAPON- ARREST            C11-47435
As previously released, on Thursday, March 10th, 2011 at approximately 2:15 a.m. Winnipeg Police Service Uniform Members responded to the 2200 block of Pembina Highway for a report of stabbing that had just occurred. 
 
Upon arrival officers learned that an argument had erupted between a number of individuals in a parking lot and during the melee, two adult males sustained what appear to be stab wounds to their upper body.   
 
Both male victims aged 21 and 30 years, attended to the hospital, in stable condition. 
 
Subsequent investigation by Members of the Division 16 Crime Unit has revealed that an altercation between 2 groups of individuals had occurred inside the establishment which escalated to a heated argument outside in the parking lot. 
 
The male suspect then stabbed the 30 year old male victim in the upper body. A 21 year old male attempted to intervene and was subsequently stabbed in the upper body as well.    
 
On March 17th, 2011 at approximately 2:00 p.m. Derek Scott REIMER, 24 years of Winnipeg was arrested and has been charged with Aggravated Assault x 2. 
 
He has been detained in custody at the Provincial Remand Centre.
 
 
STABBING INVESTIGATION                                 C11-52960
On Thursday March 18th, 2011 just after 2:00 a.m., a male victim was confronted by a group of unknown males in the area of the 200 block of Melrose Avenue East and during the altercation the victim was stabbed in the upper body area. 
 
The victim approached an occupied vehicle nearby for assistance, and requested that he be taken to the hospital. Occupants of the vehicle drove the victim to a convenience store in the area of Plessis Road and Regent Avenue, where Emergency Services Responders were notified.
 
Upon arrival, Officers located a 27 year male in need of medical attention. Winnipeg Paramedics arrived and transported the male to the hospital in unstable condition and he has since been upgraded to stable condition. 
 
This investigation is continuing by members of the East District Crime Unit. Anyone with information regarding the incident is asked to contact investigators at 986-2857 or CrimeStoppers at 786-TIPS (8477).
 
 
HOMICIDE UPDATE- ARREST                               C11-52151
As previously released on March 16th, 2011 at approximately 9:10 p.m., members of the Winnipeg Police Service responded to the rear of Portage Avenue and Vaughn Street regarding a stabbing incident.
 
It has been determined that a 19 year old male and 22 year old male victim were confronted by an armed suspect. It was at this time both victims were stabbed to the upper body.
 
Abdul Rahim Mah JEMEI 22 years was conveyed to hospital in critical condition but has since succumbed to injuries sustained. The 19 year old victim was treated and released from hospital.
 
As a result of the continuing investigation by Members of the Homicide Unit, a 16 year old male has been arrested and has been charged with Second Degree Murder. He has been detained in custody at the Manitoba Youth Centre. 
 
This investigation is still continuing of the Homicide Unit. Anyone with information regarding the incident, who has not yet spoken with investigators, is asked to call at 986-6508 or CrimeStoppers at 786-TIPS (8477).
