Winnipeg Police Service News Release:

Saturday, March 5th, 2011     SERIOUS SEXUAL ASSAULT C11-42894 On March 3rd, 2011, Uniform members were dispatched to take the report of a serious sexual assault which occurred earlier in the day involving a 27 year old female victim.   Attending members met with the victim and learned that on March 3rd, at approximately 2:30 a.m. while walking in the area of Victor Street and Ellice Avenue, she was approached by an unknown male suspect. The male physically assaulted and committed a serious sexual assault against the victim who after a period of time managed to break free and was assisted by a passerby.   The passerby offered the victim a ride home and police were subsequently notified.   Investigators are requesting the public's assistance in identifying the suspect, including the passerby who assisted the victim after the assault occurred.   The suspect is described as:   ·        Male ·        Aboriginal in appearance ·        Approximately 27 years of age ·        5'6" in height, with a medium build ·        Dark eyebrows ·        Large scab on his forehead ·        Wearing: a white hoodie and blue jeans   The passerby is described as: Male, Caucasian, driving a white/silver sedan.   The investigation is continuing by members of the Sex Crimes Unit.
