Winnipeg Police Service News Release

SUNDAY, DECEMBER 26th, 2010     FESTIVE CHECK STOP PROGRAM- FORMAL CHARGES LAID     IMPAIRED DRIVER- ARREST             C10-275211 On Friday December 3rd, 2010, at 7:00 a.m. it is alleged that a male was operating a vehicle Westbound on Regent Avenue near Madeline Street at a high rate of speed.  This male attempted to pass a vehicle travelling at the speed limit by going into the Eastbound lane and subsequently struck the side of the vehicle being passed.  The male fled the scene but was located a short distance away, and was arrested by Winnipeg Police Service Members.   As a result of this incident Michael James GRANT, 19 years of Winnipeg has been charged with Drive Impaired, Drive Over 80 mgs%, Fail to Remain at the Scene of an Accident, Drive without a Licence and Operate a Vehicle without Owner's Consent.   IMPAIRED DRIVER- ARREST                C10-275872 On Saturday December 4th, 2010, shortly before 1:00 a.m. it is alleged that a male was operating his vehicle in the area of St Matthews Avenue and Empress Street when he was stopped by members of the Winnipeg Police Service Festive Checkstop Program.   As a result of this incident Cameron DONNELLY, 48 years of Winnipeg has been charged with Drive Impaired and Drive Over 80 mgs%.     IMPAIRED DRIVER- ARREST               C10-275930 On Saturday December 4th, 2010, shortly after 2:00 a.m. it is alleged that a male was operating his vehicle Westbound on Portage Avenue near Strathcona Street in an erratic manner.  The vehicle was stopped by members of the Winnipeg Police Service Festive Checkstop Program.   As a result of this incident Bennie HARDER, 23 years of Morden has been charged with Drive Impaired and Drive Over 80 mgs%.     IMPAIRED DRIVER- ARREST               C10-275975 On Saturday December 4th, 2010, shortly before 3:00 a.m. it is alleged that a male was operating his vehicle in the area of Portage Avenue and Minto Street in an erratic manner.  The vehicle was stopped by members of the Winnipeg Police Service Festive Checkstop Program.   As a result of this incident Ryan Allan HUSTON, 26 years of Winnipeg has been charged with Drive Impaired and Drive Over 80 mgs%.     For further information contact either: Constable Natalie Aitken, Public Information Officer Constable Jason Michalyshen, Public Information Officer Office: (204)986-3061 Fax: (204) 986-3267 Email: WPS-PIO@Winnipeg.ca   Web: www.winnipeg.ca/Police
